Guy Fawkes Day

A large fellow with a black beard walked along the pavement on a chilly day. The fog had lifted, so his fashionable rust-colored scarf was untied and moving in the breeze. He wore a long brown coat, and oddly, some kind of robe. A bit odd for this neighborhood, but his smile seemed to reassure other passersby that he might simply be of the theatre.

He lit up the steps of an old Victorian hotel, and went inside.  After a quick check with reception, he was ambling easily down the long staircase into the grand entrance hall. It was a holiday weekend; he wasn't nearly the only visitor. Voices filled the space with murmurs, and cutlery clinking tempted Knox with the possibility of tea. He was counting on his hosts recognizing him rather than the opposite.  He was a few words acquainted with Miss Adrestria Gamp, for they were both werewolves who were occasionally on the Fourth Floor. Fiona Lloyd, he didn't know.

He took a posting on the landing and pulled his scarf from around his neck. He read a banner promoting an exhibit on maps. Boundary-making in a post-wand world. Discover early magical topography and innovations in leylines. Or something. Well, there was something for everyone, wasn't there. Ah! Looking past the banner, he thought he spied one of his hosts.

Knox Greyfriar lifted a hand in the air, as if he wasn't easy enough to spot.
