"I was born here," came Moira's reply to his first question. Her parents, as she had been told, had chosen to to hire a mid-wife instead of go to a hospital. The now post-Hogwarts girl was still living in the same house she was birthed in. That wasn't a fact she thought about very often.

The other part of Kurby's question about other big dogs or canines made her immediately think of the actual wolves and the other wolf animagus whom was currently unregistered. Balfour Spectre was a huge black wolf. When travelling she had found herself on the borders of his estate and came across him as such. So far as she knew, which admittedly wasn't much, he had no motive to make an attack like that. He was also the head of the beast division, likely knowing her current visitor personally, and too busy being sappy with his betrothed. Even in her remote world she had heard stories.

Moira leaned back against the desk, palms down on the surface, staring down at the floor for a moment trying to recall any other potential sightings. Finally she shook her head, looking to Bagnold again. "Nay, can't say I've seen any. Mostly just deer and and smaller creatures; pine martens, badgers, and such." She didn't mention the rabbits. A few had ended up being a snack or a meal.

"If I may could I ask a favor?" Moira watched his cautious gaze before continuing, "would you let us know, me or my father, if you find out what, or who, did it and if they were caught? I understand details wouldn't be involved but we have a lot of animals here and they are the livelihood of this farm. If something happened to them..."

Born here.  Of course she was.  Moira McBoid was so intertwined with the fabric of this place, he had to wonder if she'd ever tear herself away from it.

The long silence that stretched out before she answered his next question nearly made him suspicious.  If he were casually interrogating anyone else, he would have taken a long gap in the conversation and an averted gaze as signs that the person were lying to him.  But it was hard to get a read on McBoid, who seemed content to let silences languish for entire conversations.  She might have been misrepresenting the truth, or perhaps she was simply most comfortable thinking and not talking.

If anything, that last thought gave him an insight into what Figaro Sellaphix might see in the girl.  One constantly talking; the other awkwardly silent.  In a strange way, maybe it worked.

Her last question made him tilt his head, regarding her thoughtfully.  "Aye, so long as you do the same," he said matter-of-factly.  "If you notice something odd, whatever it is, send word.  Kurby Bagnold, Level Four."

Moira nodded in agreement to his request, "Aye, of course." The witch didn't travel towards Edinburgh all that much but keeping an eye on things in this area was something that came naturally to her anyway. Occasionally foolhardy regarding creatures, when necessary, did not mean she would actively try to follow something suspicious, excluding the times she thought she had seen a Dobhailen again; that was different. Knowing there was a potential direwolf in the area changed things.

The silence stretched on for a few more seconds, "If that's everything?" At his confirmation Moira nodded, "Let me show you out then." Sending him off on his own when he was, though in an official capacity, a guest would definitely have been bad manners. Her dad would have hounded her about it if he found out.

After retracing their steps back to the barn opening she continued outside and into the rain and a shout come from one of the pastures further away on the property, "Moira! Who's that?"

Turning her head Moira raised a hand in greeting and confirmation that she heard him. "I'll explain later!" Despite being a naturally quiet girl she had learned to make her voice loud enough to carry whenever her family wanted to relay information from a distance."Sorry," she added to Kurby for the shout. "That's me dad." Even standing as far off as he was Angus McBoid's stature was somewhat obvious especially with him standing by one of the horses.

Finally they stopped at the edge of the property not far from the house. Moira gave Bagnold a farewell nod. "I hope you find them soon."

The werewolf hunter's dark eyes drifted towards the sound of the shout, snapping back to Moira as she responded.  Under other circumstances, he might have pressed the conversation further and demanded to talk to another potential witness, but he had no reason to think that the McBoids were trying to conceal anything.  If they didn't manage to turn anything else up, he could always circle back to speak with the girl's father.

He could have apparated from anywhere, but she escorted him to the edge of the road -- no doubts remaining about his dismissal.  "I hope you find them soon," Moira said.

"We will," he said curtly.  He had no doubt about that.  Whether it happened before or in conjunction with the next full moon was the only question.

He cocked an eyebrow at her, giving her a sidelong look.  "See you the next time you're sleepin' over at the Sellaphixes', then?" he asked nonchalantly.  "Don't be shy about remindin' your boyfriend that there're plenty of spare bedrooms."

With that -- before Moira could formulate a retort, or even a response -- Kurby vanished with a sharp crack.
