Physical Description: Zeta calls herself “sturdy and curvy”. She’s 5’3” now, so likely to gain a few more inches in her twenties. Her long, straight, light brown hair has a reddish tone and she likes to wear it down or up in a high messy bun. She has pale skin with a pink undertone and dark brown eyes. She talks very fast most of the time, and her voice is naturally a bit scratchy.
Her fashion sense was born and raised in a gillyweed-induced fever dream of shocking colors, muggle, traditional, historical, and experimental choices. It prompts the question, “why”. As soon as she’s allowed out of uniform, she sheds the drab cocoon of school robes to emerge as a frenetic radioactive butterfly. And this year, she discovered lipstick.
Personality Description: Zeta is clearly a Pepper, a daughter of the notably peculiar family. Ideas and strange associations swim constantly through her mind, and if she ever gives them voice they are often non sequitur. Most of this creative brainpower is funnelled into self-directed endeavors like drawing or writing; very little is allotted for school work. So she’s a frustrating combination of ‘a joy to have in class’ and ‘needs to apply herself’.
Friends are easy for Zeta, or at least she’s inclined to be friendly to most people. She leans towards loud dinner conversations, staying up too late, last minute homework scrambles, and learning silly enchantments and jinxes.
The youngest Pepper generation, Zeta’s sisters and cousins, are close. She admires her older sister Theta very much, but sometimes feels overshadowed by what seems like her ease at academic success. Eta’s intensity can be a bit much, but Zeta will often humor her. She’s sweet to her cousins, Timothy and Ambrose and considers them as close to brothers as cousins could be. When they get together, it can be counted on that all will be silly and there will be food and teasing.
Zeta has become more and more tempestuous in the last couple years, a bit more prone to talk back to professors and snap at friends. Zeta wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly why, just that some situations just feel “unbearable”. Undoubtedly, her father’s time-turner accident and her aunt Claire’s attack have had a profound effect that’s hard to face.
The undercurrent of every part of who she is is her love of drawing. She’s been at it since she was very young, and she always seems to be sketching something: in her little notebook at meals, in the margins of her homework, on the hands and arms of her consenting friends, and certainly for publication in the Hogwarts Howler. (She’s even left her mark in the girls’ bathroom…). She shares her love of art with her dad, Monty Pepper but hasn’t yet sat down to learn his particular craft of magical portrait painting.
Likes: drawing, coffee, girls, cats, yellow
Dislikes: essays, clutter, arguments, frilly things, house elves (they creep her out)
History: Zeta is originally Kit's character, and has a
detailed history on the wiki. It seems best to insert that here.
Born in 1995, Zeta is the second child (and second daughter), of Octavius and Catherine Pepper. Her early life was largely quiet, most notable for early incidents of artistic destruction such as when she painted the living room wall at age three. This led to her father taking a particular interest in instructing her in art, and while Zeta's proven far more interested in drawing than painting, the shared artistic bent has made them especially close. Her younger sister Eta was born a couple of years later.
Zeta and her sisters were very close as well, along with the girl's cousins: Ambrose and Timothy, the sons of Octavius' brother Francis. While Zeta was thrilled to be sorted into Hufflepuff when she started at Hogwarts, she was also a bit saddened to be away from her younger sister and cousin, who hadn't yet started school. She took better to the school that to her schoolwork, and has long had the desire to draw every member of the Hogwarts staff; a project often frustrated by their high turnover.
The summer of 2008 left the family stunned, as Zeta's aunt, Claire Pepper, suffered severe memory damage at the hands of Thomas Gregory, her son and the half brother of Ambrose and Timothy. Claire has been in St. Mungo's ever since. The return to school was welcome then, an opportunity to focus on less unpleasant matters.
Most of Zeta's life since then has been relatively calm, with changes such as her older sister Theta graduating Hogwarts, and starting electives in her third year. However, returning home over the 2009-2010 Christmas break gave her quite a shock-one she's still struggling to accept. Her father, to whom she's always been rather close, suffered an accident with a time turner while on a vacation to the United States. One that left him two decades older when he returned. Despite how close the two of them were, Zeta's still felt compelled to withdraw, a move that allows her to temporarily ignore how much he has aged.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Zeta is one of Helga Hufflepuffs "all the rest" and was sorted Hufflepuff because she wasn't particularly suited to any other house more than the others. To her credit, she is inclined to caring about others, if not the classic badger trait of hard work
Writing Sample: Sum up your character in one paragraph: Zeta is a colorful soul trying to find her way. She has a strong sense of family, and is driven by the need to create and explore the world around her through experimentation. She has a wacky sense of style and has trouble with completing school work.
