Dearest Husband,

Do you remember when we went to Paris last September for my birthday and we stopped at that tiny little bistro at sunrise for tea and pastries? ... I remember. And your pregnant wife would very much like a box of those chocolate and strawberry pastries. It's all I've been able to think about since I woke up this morning.

If I'm going to get big as a house I might as well enjoy the journey.

Love,
Your Wife

My Dear Wife,

It pains me greatly to know that you are at home suffering while I am at work. While I would have preferred to make the trip to Paris myself to secure the pastries, I was stuck in Wizengamot proceedings all morning. Thus, I gave detailed instructions to my administrative aide to procure an ample selection of all the pastries the bistro contains.

I do not feel sorry for sending her on such an errand because I also instructed her to find all the best postcards of sunsets in Paris. If you would prefer, I will happily go tomorrow morning to get a better one. And then I will be sure to get you the best croissants and baguettes.

With love,
Your Husband

Oh, Oscar!

I didn't mean for you to do it straight away! How thoughtful and truly romantic of you. The post cards your aide selected are wonderful. And she does have good taste in pastries. My craving is perfectly satisfied now. I just pray that you don't end up finding your rotund wife as repulsive as she finds herself these days. I look forward to having my figure back again and being able to wear flattering dresses. The ones I've had to settle for are far from satisfactory for my tastes.

But no- I shan't send you back in the morning. I would rather have the chance to spend morning in bed with you, securely snuggled beneath the covers as late as you'll allow.

I desperately look forward to the weekend. I miss you so much when you're away during the day. It gets lonely at home all day. I miss being able to go out in town and conduct my own business. But I know that in my condition it's not appropriate to be gallivanting in public. It would be obscene.

Perhaps we could have a dinner party one night? A few close friends?

Love,
Mrs. Whitman
