Tia glanced at the cat whose curiosity and polite affection had been roused by their exchange, giving him an equally courteous scratch behind his ears. She didn't especially like cats but being around cousin Ceph's illustrious Claude had helped them to grow on her in a way. They were very fickle animals.

"Would you tell me not to?" Hannah was quick to ask.

The other werewolf continued to speak, and Adrestia didn't interrupt. Especially when she described what it was like to have to fill up the dreaded form from the Lycan registry: the anger in her speech was evident, so it was good that Hannah was expressing it now instead of letting it build up.

She couldn't help but laugh at Bagnold's proclivity for silver, though. Merlin help the wizard or witch who had to deal with that hot mess.

"You're absolutely right." Tia gave the cat a final pat, stroking him from the back of his limber neck down to his protesting tail, and then finally turning her gaze back to Hannah. "And I think that campaigning is a really good idea. You've suffered injustices, you're well-read, you have an ally or two. Awareness can only do so much, the Ministry needs incentive to change."

For the time being, she decided not to remind the other witch that she was a criminal. Hannah's folder had described some of the things she had to do for Ira Almasy and Tia wasn't going to forget those facts anytime soon. She just hoped that stuff never made it into the papers.

"If you need help getting in touch with other werewolves or with level four paperwork, I'm only an owl away," she reminded her mentee with a smile and then glanced at the wristwatch. It was getting on. "I'd better run. Let me know more about your campaigning efforts," Adrestia got up and picked up her bag, slinging it over her shoulder. "I'm so glad you're focusing on this."

This was perhaps the first meeting with Gamp where Hannah found it was ending too quickly. Every other time she’d seen the fellow werewolf, time had moved unpleasantly slowly with small talk and the mentor’s attempts to chat. Today, Hannah had felt more willing, perhaps because she had been given the opportunity to discuss how she was now approaching the situation. Hannah was grasping back for control rather than letting everything happen to her.

Herbert, disgruntled at the move, leapt from Tia’s lap and prowled off into the kitchen. Hannah also rose, folding her arms. “Are you an ally?” The witch had mentioned allies within the ministry. Hannah wanted to know where her loyalties lay. She’d been asked to mentor her. Hannah had been forced into the situation and that much was clear. So what exactly did Tia gain out of this other than money?

“You offer this help, but is it out of politeness and a sense of duty, or do you care about our rights? Or are you one of those people that will only care when it affects you?” Hannah had been one of those people who’d paid werewolves no mind until she’d been bitten.

M for mature language!

"Or are you one of those people that will only care when it affects you?"

Adrestia laughed at this sudden line of questioning, doing up her rust orange coat as she made to leave the flat. A lot of people did ask her that, both werewolves and non-werewolves. They wanted to know what she got out of spending her free time asking after moody wixes with a chip on their shoulder.

"Hannah. You're kind of a bitch," Tia shook her head amusedly at the other girl, "and I promise level four isn't paying me enough to be dealing with you just because it's a few more galleons on the paycheque or because I feel morally obliged. I'm a mentor because I like helping people, so, yes, you can consider me an ally to the cause."

Merlin knew she wasn't doing this because it was fun! It could be, sometimes, but most of the time it was difficult. Especially when her mentees were much younger and more sensitive than Hannah - kids who broke down crying or who lived with families that constantly reminded them of their 'curse'.

"I really do have to go now," Tia moved towards the door as she pulled up her hood. "We can talk about your campaigning stuff next time. See if you can get some other people on your side, till then. I know you're bad at making friends but you're going to need them if you want to do this right."
