Clues emerge regarding the strange 'mist' that attacked the populace on Wednesday evening. I.D.R.E.A.D. has discovered that the mist is the product of dark magic, having been traced back to a pair of siblings known by the names of Lori and Lee Lilly. The Lilly pair reportedly used their manor in Keswick as a base for criminal operations. They are at large and presently being hunted by Aurors.

A press statement from Level Two warns that both brother and sister are suspected of multiple murders, forbidden magics, illegal potion dealing, as well as the abuse and mistreatment of unicorns. Should readers discover persons matching the description below, they are asked to notify Level Two immediately. Do not engage.

Details of the Lillys were obtained from a survivor of events at the manor, pureblood squib Abigail Reid. The dark wixes held Reid captive for almost a year, along with their adopted squib son, Calix. Several Ministry sources suggest that the Lillys planned to sacrifice their captives as part of a dark magic ritual. They may also have ties to the late Ira Almasy, revealed in recent months to be a prolific fraud and criminal. The squibs found buried in Almasy’s rooftop garden may relate to the Lillys’ crimes.

Sources tell us that Reid floo’d to the Ministry as part of an escape attempt, where she was efficiently received by Ministry staff. Her peer was not so lucky. Aurors discovered the other squibs at the manor, dead of unnatural causes.

“At this point,” announced Solomon Carstairs, “We are unwilling to speculate on the exact nature of these deaths and the presence attracting dementor activity, not without more concrete information.”

Departments of Magical Law Enforcement, Magical Accidents and Catastrophes and Mysteries are reported to be carrying out a thorough investigation in Keswick. Abigail Reid was reached for further comment, but declined.
