[August 26th]Not in the house of a Thatcher[Addie]

on December 01, 2017, 04:43:06 PM

He had been sitting in his flat just thinking about it.  He'd been to Addie's place numerous times, but he'd never brought her to his place.  His place was mostly just a bachelor pad, it was no place for Addie, but he did have a place he wouldn't mind taking her to.  Right after he'd inherited his money, he'd gone out and found a decent sized house and promptly bought it.  Then he never went back.  He had someone living there to look after things, but he only checked in with them once a month, just to see if everything was okay.

But even then, that was done by owl.  He actually hadn't even checked to see what the house was decorated like, he just knew that the house was bought already furnished.  And so, as he was sitting on his worn couch in his flat, he decided to take the day to go out to his house and check it out.

He arrived at the apparition spot he'd set up on the edge of the driveway that was surrounded by bushes and surveyed the outside of the house.  Honestly, he couldn't believe he'd bought something so... well, white.  He didn't like the color white very much, and even when he had need of it, it was very little.  However, he made his way up the gravel driveway and into the house.  He knew the guy who was looking after the place was gone today, so he could do what he needed to do without any help.

He moved through the house, admiring some of the furnishings that were left there and grimacing at the others.  He had his work cut out for him. Turns out the only room he really had a problem with in general was the sitting room. There was way too much silver and white in here.

He walked around the room, changing some of the silver to a shade of blue and changing the curtains to a kind of blue-green color.  Feeling better about the house now, he went about opening doors and seeing what might need adding to it and what he could get rid of.  Fortunately most of the rooms were empty, ready  for someone to do something with, but the last door he opened was to a sort of small movie theater... that got Arrow excited.

He moved away from the small theater and went back to the sitting room that looked much better now, in his opinion.  He found a scrap of paper on one of the bookshelves, okay it was a blank page from a book that he was sure he'd never read, and jotted a quick note to Addie with the ink pen he found (strangely enough, it was on the piano) and gave her the address to see if she'd like to come over.

This was another big step for him, first he'd given her the promise ring, now he was inviting her to the house not even he'd been inside until today.. this girl was changing him... most likely for the better.  He smiled and walked around until he found that his owl - He'd named the fluffy greyish white owl Mac Tíre which meant wolf in Irish -  and sent him off with the note for Addie.

Now he just had to wonder if she'd decide to come or not.

Thank the Lord for a long weekend away from her workplace. She was dressed in jammies, eating leftovers from the takeaway Thursday night, watching the telly whilst Marmy snoozed away. The promise ring was snugly secured on her hand - she'd become fiercely protective of the ring ever since becoming its partial owner.  She was in mid-bite when the tapping against the window nearby made her yelp in surprise, waking the pup up in an instant.

Marmy went for the sliding door and Addie gave brief chase, pushing Marmy away with her foot, allowing the owl safe haven before any Muggle caught on. "Here...." Addie remarked, grabbing a cereal bowl, filling it with water before placing it on the counterspace for the owl. "There you are, mate." Mac Tíre's grateful hoot came right as she pulled the  note from his leg. Unfurling the message, Addie grinned.

"It would seem, Lady Marmalade, yours truly has been invited to meet with Sir Celt. What say you? Go and see this house?" Marmy barked her affirmation and with it, Addie went to the sliding door, coaxing the owl back outside to the wild. Mac took the hint,  taking to the skies. Shutting the door and locking it, Addie went to get dressed.

.  .  .

Thirty minutes later, Addie was in jean shorts, sandals and a tank, heading to the house. An apparition crack in the alleyways of the flats caused birds to give flight as Addie disappeared in thin air. Reappearing about a mile away, Addie groaned but began walking towards the address she'd memorised. Eventually, the place came into view.

The ruddy hell....?!
Was her boyfriend loaded and keeping mum about it all?

Her feet were throbbing slightly as she made it to the front door. She picked up one of the brass rings and slammed it against the wood. Awwwwwkward.

Hearing the knocker against the front door had Arrow's heart beating faster than ever.  He was more nervous than he was when he gave Addie the promise ring and that was saying something.  Walking slowly, he made his way to the door and opened it slowly with a half smile on his face, which turned into a bright grin when he saw Addie standing there.  "Hello."

He held the door open wider so that she could come in and he found himself wondering what she was thinking.  He waited until she walked into the house and then closed the door softly behind her.  Well, as softly as he could, as it was a large and heavy door and made an echo-y sound through the large and somewhat sparsely furnished house.

"So, this is my house..." he began, totally unsure as to what to say to her, "...thanks for coming..." even to himself that sounded bad.  He now regretted not bringing her here sooner, the fact that he had the house had to be something large for her to get used to, but now he remembered that he hadn't even told her that he had money.

Arrow stood behind her with both hands in his back pockets and watching her, trying to gauge her reaction to being in such a large house, that she just found out belonged to her boyfriend.  This wasn't something he was used to, or had ever done.  "What do you think?" he asked as he still was watching her for a reaction...

The echo of the door shutting had made Addie jump slightly before listening to her boyfriend's remark about the house. She'd had always imagined that Arrow had a small flat or house, nothing too fancy nor too gaudy. She was rather shocked to be honest. The place reminded Addie of her maternal grandfather's chateau in France. Massive, capable to take people in for a holiday. Mm. What to think....say, even. Arrow was waiting for a response. She looked to him in surprise.

"It's.....rather...." large, massive, how did you afford THIS? "impressive. When did you find the place? It's rather empty, but I'm sure you're going to fix that, yes?' she replied, smiling soon enough. Taking his hands, Addie leaned up, kissing him briefly. "I've really missed you, what with work keepimg me busy ninety-five percent of the time."

"It's a bit large, but to be honest it was an impulse buy after I received my inheritance, and even then I barely made a dent in it." he said quietly.

He looked around when she mentioned it was empty.  "Yes, it is empty, but I'm almost never here.  I have a flat in London and it's kind of perfect, but one day I might like that I have a place like this available."

He let her take his hands and then she kissed him, "I missed you as well, maybe I'll just pop by occasionally, just to keep you on your toes." he said with a smile and then kissed her back. He really hadn't seen her much lately, not since he'd given her the promise ring.  Maybe he should make some kind of effort to see her more often.
