Postcards from South Africa on November 05, 2017, 12:21:54 PM __Johann Storm__3A, House of Atreus__Knightsbridge__LondonTuesdayFebruary 82011Hi there, Johann! I am sorry I missed your birthday - I really hope you had a blast (even though I wasn’t there), and I hope Balfour took care of you accordingly. (If he didn’t - tell me, and I’ll sort him out, haha).I’m currently in Tzaneen, which is a beautiful town in the far northeast of SA, surrounded by rainforest. Some local wizards took me hiking yesterday to show me the surroundings, but we quite quickly had to turn back. After only an hour or so we ran into this creature (which I managed to take a photo of). You won’t believe it - but it’s a NUNDU! The wizards and I quickly apparated back and got in touch with the Ministry, who called in a task force. Luckily, the Nundu only passed by the outskirts of the town, but one can never be too careful. They told me stories about how a single Nundu can kill entire cities by themselves!Anyway, I’m alright. I haven’t lost any limbs (hehe) and we’ll be continuing on from here tomorrow. I can’t wait to tell you all about it when I’m back!Yours,Omari Skip to next post Re: Postcards from South Africa Reply #1 on November 05, 2017, 12:46:45 PM __Edward Pratt__Pratt’s Knoll Cottage__Heavencrest Lane__Ugglebarnby__YorkshireSaturdayFebruary 122011Hey Eddie! I hope you’re holding down the fort back in HQ, even though you’re missing your best auror, hehe. Kidding aside - I’m hoping everything is well, both with you and with work. We arrived in Hazyview a couple of days ago, me mum and I. The wizarding folk here are so welcoming, and yesterday we had a feast that lasted long into the night. I even tried fried streelers! I have to say that I was a bit scared hesitant at first, but it was actually not that bad. Our hosts explained how they cook away the venom, but that was at the end of the meal and I had had a couple of bottles of beer by that time. Anyway, yesterday they let us borrow some brooms and we went on a flight trip just outside the town. It was so refreshing, and really awesome to see the country from above as well. I can tell you that flying here is the best way to cool off! (And sorry for the unstable shot - taking a photo whilst on a broom is not the easiest...)Anyway, as I said - I hope you’re good. And I hope that I still have my job when I come back, haha!Take care,Omari Skip to next post Re: Postcards from South Africa Reply #2 on November 19, 2017, 12:04:24 PM __Andromeda Gamp__Level 2, Auror Headquarters__British Ministry of Magic__LondonThursdayFebruary 32011Howdy Andie! I miss you, you little rascal. I hope Ed’s not driving you insane, and I’m sure you’re doing great in whatever he has you crazy kids doing. Me mother has gone back to Cape Town for some official business, so I’m travelling a bit by myself. Arrived in Durban yesterday, and met this witch who invited me to take part in a duelling competition yesterday. Merlin, ya’d be surprised on what these witches know how to duel! Ya don’t understand - they’re using so much wandless magic that I got caught of guard more then once. And Andie, the way they use elmental ellemenetal weather/nature magic is crazy!! I took a picture of Mbali Engelbrecht - she won the competition. In all right! Such power!Anyway, I’m leaving Durban tomorrow, but I’m not entirely sure where I’m going. Mbali said she might take me to see a wizarding community up north. That’d be exciting!Miss ya,Omari Skip to next post Re: Postcards from South Africa Reply #3 on November 19, 2017, 12:15:46 PM __Fauna Blake__Radford Estate__LondonSaturdayMarch 122011Fauna! I hope ya getting into the swing of things back at the office. Don’t worry about Eddie, he’s gonna be fine with you in the end. A lot of bark, ey!Met this witch named Mbali when I was in Durban last week and she took me to Kroonstad, where one of her cousins lives. Turns out they had tickets to an AAC* tickets so I got to see the Sumbawanga Sunrays and the Clocalan Cloud-Chasers in action. Have to admit I was a bit surprised that they played the game in broad daylight, but Mbali assured me that there were protective spells in place. Galloping gargoyles was that a game! (The Sunrays won by the way, so the celebrations were not as festive as usual, according to Mbali)*All-Africa CupI might be staying here for a few days, the people seem nice. Even the muggles have been nice to me so far. (and their beer is amazing…) Take care of yaself, and don’t do anything stupid!Best,Omari Skip to next post
