The door opened with almost no sound as Asher walked into the Magical Menagerie.  He was looking for a present for his kid sister, which wasn't going to go over well, since he had four of them.  Maybe he'd find a dog that had three siblings, or a kneazle.  He wasn't sure, so he began to peruse the animals with  a purpose.

He knew that anything he brought to his parents' home wasn't going to go over well.  His parents didn't like animals, so this was one thing he knew was going to make them mad. He didn't really care though.  His parents had made it perfectly clear that since 3 of his four sisters wanted to go to Hogwarts instead of Beauxbatons it was all his fault.  That was his mum though, she was born and raised in France, so naturally wanted his sisters to go there.

He paused in front of a tank of yellow and green striped lizards and thought about it before shaking his head.  None of his sisters would enjoy those.  They were fond of small and fluffy things.  Maybe he should just go to a muggle pet store and buy them a rabbit.  He kept looking.  Snakes, more lizards, and all kinds of things that were not fluffly were where he was so he turned around the corner.

Maybe he could ask for help.

Nicholas was tired of being told he needed an owl of his own.  What the hell was the owlery for, if not for wizards who didn't own their own bird. But he'd given in, he was going to get his own bird.  Which was why he was now standing in the corner of the Menagerie reading a pamphlet about different breeds and how to care for them.  Frankly he was pretty sure he could get the lady underneath the flat to help.

She'd probably like whatever bird he got more than she liked them.

He looked up for the shopkeeper to ask a question, he just needed a bird for stuff around the city.  Anything else, or large, he could pay to get sent.  Or just apparate and take it himself.  But instead of finding the shopkeeper he saw Asher.  He was pretty sure he hadn't been there before, and he was pretty sure he didn't work at the place.

"Asher man, how's post Hogwarts treating you?"  He said as he stuffed the pamphlet back into the stack he'd pulled it from.  "Getting an owl? Apparently, you have to have one for work and life and everything," he rolled his eyes and sighed.

Asher was so engrossed in looking at the animals that he almost didn't hear the person talking to him. He turned from the cage of something he didn't know the name of, but it was bright pink and sounded like it was gargling.  "Okay I guess, I'm not too sure what I'd like to do now.. never really had the inclination to do much of anything.  How's life for you?"

He hadn't really talked to anyone from school since graduation, he was still trying to figure out what to do with his own life and didn't want to get mixed up in anyone else's at the moment, but he still liked to have a social life, and he could hold a conversation.

"No owl for me, not yet anyway." he gestured around the store, "I'm looking for something soft, fluffy, and adorable for my kid sister's birthday that's coming up."  He rolled his eyes at the thought of still trying to find something for her, "No luck yet though."

"Things are great.  I'm supposed to get to do field work soon."  Nicholas said proudly.  So far he was happy with his choices.  More so, he was just happy he'd made a choice.  And he was surprised Asher hadn't made one, weren't Slytherins supposed to be ambitious.  Or did that not apply to now-former Slytherins.

"Something fluffy?  A cat would at least be useful, and they could take it to school.  A Pygmy Puff if you want something adorable and useless."  Nicholas didn't have any sisters, but if the younger Gryffindors he'd none were any indication, anything with fur would be met with love and babytalk.

"I would get something adorable and fluffy, but as I've got four sisters and only one of them appreciate adorable and fluffy things, I'm not sure that's the way to go, " he paused and looked towards a few cats he had seen earlier, "although, I could send them two presents, one for the cute factor, and one that the other three siblings would enjoy..." he trailed off as he realized he hadn't seen his sisters in too long, he didn't know what they liked anymore.

"Good luck on the field work mate." he said as a later thought.[1]
