Physical Description: Hester is 5'2. She fitted in well in Japan. She likes shoes with heels or platforms. Cushioning charms are the best thing ever. She learned a lot about keeping her appearance from her mother. She was expected to be very neat and tidy as a child.
Hester has a closet brimming with garments. She collected them from different cultures. She likes bold dark colors. Magenta, purple, black, deep yellow are her favorites to wear. She is constantly eager to dress up for special events.
Her hair is black with dark brown streaks. It is naturally a little curly but not frizzy. She uses charms and good shampoo. She keeps it about medium length and far from her face. Her eyes are dark brown. She has inherited her mother's coloring.
Hester's accent is hard to place. She will mimic the accent of whoever she speaks to.
Personality Description: Hester always wants to do things herself. She cannot stop herself getting involved. She needs to have a go at everything. She loves to talk. She likes to know many people. Hester is anything but difficult to like. She has an infectious energy.
Hester is determined. At times this shows as hostility. She can be competitive at stuff she does well. She is prone to being jealous of other people. If she drinks a lot she looks more angry. Sometimes she is honest to a fault and hurts feelings. When she cools down Hester always apologizes.
She is very independent. Hester is unafraid of traveling alone. She does not need to live with anyone else. Sometimes she will ignore problems but this makes them worse. She can find it hard to ask for help as she thinks it is weakness. In the past she suffered with her self confidence. She will offer help to others though. Hester appreciates a good mentor.
When Hester is happy with life she is always looking at the next big thing. She is ambitious. She always has a personal target. Unfortunately that can mean her romantic partners. She has had a lot of short-term relationships.
History: Born to an Irainian father and a Ghanaian mother. Hester has three younger brothers and two sisters. They are all independent but keep in touch.
Hester's father worked for the Iranian Ministry as an Ambassador. He was envoy of Iran to the United Kingdom when Hester was conceived. Soon he became the Iranian magical ambassador to Japan. When Hester was a year old they moved to Japan. Hester does not remember growing up anywhere but Japan.
When Hester was seven she was expected to go to school. She wanted to go as all her friends were going. She enjoyed every moment at Mahoutokoro. Even though it was strict. She was expected to work hard. She wanted to make her parents proud. She had always been told you had to work for things you wanted. She had luck in her upbringing but she was fiercely independent.
Hester's favorite studies were foreign languages, practical herbology, shape changing and illusion.
When she completed school another diplomat offered Hester work in Morocco. She did not speak Arabic but Persian but she did speak French. She learned at school. She worked as a junior assistant for a year. She made lots of connections with visiting diplomats and influential business people.
One offered her a job at a bank in the Cayman Islands. Hester accepted. She lived a very good life in the Cayman Islands. But Hester did not feel she was doing good in the world. She was making money and living well but not helping things. Everyone she met was rich. She was restless.
Hester's younger sister had decided to become a Healer. She would study at St Mungo's Hospital. Hester took a long holiday and went to visit. A friend of her family invited the sisters for dinner. At the dinner was the Ministry of Magic's Head of the Office for Far East Relations. Hester got talking and was invited to London. She was offered a job in the office and resigned from the bank in the Cayman Islands.
Hester's new job for the Office for Far East Relations meant she spent time abroad. She worked on projects. She helped the International Confederation of Wizards too. Sometimes it was education. Sometimes it was helping form or enforce new laws to keep the Statue of Secrecy. Sometimes it was helping new British ambassadors get used to new cultures.
At 39 she applied to be the Head of the Office. She was not successful but encouraged to apply higher soon after. She became Deputy Head at 40. She gets on well with Gabrielle Murray the Head.
Describe your job duties and how you go about them: Hester deals with high level issues personally. She oversees decisions in other offices. She represents the department and shares duties with the head. She acts as the head when they are absent. Hester upholds the good name and intentions of the department at all times. She is an ambassador for conduct. She is an excellent networker with other governments. She is responsible for keeping a thorough overview.
Hester tries to be a fair boss. She tries not to be critical. She wants everyone to be independent. She asks questions. She asks 'what if'. She tries to help. She is not afraid to say no.
Elaborate on your expertise in your field: Hester grew up an ambassador's daughter. She has a strong academic background. She worked for an ambassador and then an international wizarding bank. She worked for the Ministry in the Far East Office for many years. She speaks Persian, Japanese, English and French.
