    Physical Description:
At 138 cm / just under 4 1/2 feet tall, Elaine is just shy of the average height for a girl her age and her weight is relatively in proportion with her height.  Though her overall stature isn’t unique, Elaine tries to find ways to stand out amongst her peers.  Elaine has startling blue eyes.

Elaine’s most striking feature is her long, curly red contrasting against her pale skin and she’s well aware of it.  She likes to experiment with different hairstyles and is constantly finding new ways to show off her curls.  But, her default hairstyle is letting her hair fall in loose curls around her shoulders, only opting to contain it when circumstances require it or she feels the need to sport a more formal style.

She tries to present herself as a dignified, proper young lady and is fastidious about her grooming and attire.   Elaine loves shopping and fashion and has been known to spend quite a bit of time putting together the perfect outfit.  She particularly loves showing off the garments and jewelry gathered during their travels.

    Personality Description:
Elaine Bellamy is a privileged young woman who has never had to worry or want for anything.  Having grown up traveling the seas with her parents on the BSC Silver Kelpie, she sees herself as a wise and worldly young lady.  In all parts of her life, she tries to the portray the dignity and finesse befitting of a worldly lady.

She likes the refined side of life: wearing fine fabrics from the East, collecting rare trinkets from foreign markets, eating the best of international delicacies and partaking in a proper afternoon tea.  She loves engaging in activities befitting a proper lady: tea with friends, strolling formal manicured and planning the absolute best outfit for every occasion.  Elaine loves being the center of attention and plays the piano, sings and performs for the Captain's crew when on the Silver Kelpie.

Elaine's own perception of her worldly lady-like demeanor is often idealistic and seen through her own rose-colored glasses.  She's frequently oblivious to her tendency towards condescension.  She sees herself as being of a higher class and, therefore, being better than those from poorer family.  But, it would be rude for a young lady to let that superiority show.

Though her academic abilities have yet to be tested, Elaine is generally a bright young woman.  However, after having grown up surrounded by house staff and employees of her father who always jumped to help her, she may struggle with adjusting to the rigors of academia.

    History:
In the mid 14th century, Camdyn Bellamy was born the fourth son to a lower-middle class merchant wizarding family.  With the knowledge that his family’s humble wealth wouldn’t stretch far enough down the inheritance tree to reach him, the young men set off to find his own way in the world.  His travels led him to the small port town of Rye along the East Sussex coast where he began working as a rigger on the Silver Siren, a merchant ship that brought rare potions ingredients from foreign ports.

When Camdyn Bellamy’s two sons were born, they followed in their father’s footsteps as their sons followed in theirs.   Within three generations, the Bellamy’s influence and wealth enough for the family to commission their own sailing vessel.  By the middle of the 16th century, The Bellamy Shipping Company had been founded, allowing the Bellamys to become the dominant, wealthy family in South Essex.  Their success was owed to both the company's legitimate shipping contracts as well as other less legal activities, including smuggling and the occasional acts of piracy against Dutch and Spanish shipping companies.

By the time Pellinore Bellamy was born to Archibald Bellamy and Curstaidh Spectre, the Bellamy Shipping Company had grown to be one of the leading global wizarding shipping companies.   Their fleet of over 50 wizard ships continue to deliver all manner of potions ingredients, animals and wears all around the globe.  While Pellinore’s father and patriarch of the family, Archibald Bellamy, oversees the business aspect of the company, Pellinore captains the fleet’s leading vessel: the three-masted, fifty meter long schooner the BSC Silver Kelpie.  For the most part, the family’s business is now largely above board though they are not above smuggling for a particularly lucrative deal.

In the spring of 1995, Pellinore Bellamy married Enid Tierney and Elaine was born four years later.  As the captain’s only daughter, Elaine grew up the center of much attention.  Not only were her parents enamored by their only child, but Elaine quickly learned she could use her charm and striking red hair to get most anything she wanted from her father’s crew.

Her childhood was largely carefree.  Some of her time was spent on the family’s seaside estate, playing with friends and growing up under the watchful eyes of her mother and grandmother.  As Elaine grew older, she and her mother would frequently join Pellinore on his voyages, visiting distant ports of call.

In anticipation of Elaine’s acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Elaine and her mother returned to their family home in Rye while Pellinore and his crew sail to Argentina.  Elaine hopes to join her father on one more shorter journey before the school year starts, but is otherwise enjoying her summer.
