It was a beautiful day, in Aisling's opinion - then again, every day was a beautiful day in Aisling's opinion. For the rest of the world, it was a pretty nice day considering it was mid-April and Scotland. It wasn't raining, at least, and the sun had even deigned to poke its head out from behind the clouds every now and then. All in all, not bad.
The grass by the lake was wet with dew, but that didn't stop Aisling from flopping down by the water to look up at the sky. It was a Sunday, she'd done all the homework she could remember, and exams were far enough away to be put on the back burner. In short, it was the perfect day to laze on the grass and let the giant squid tickle her toes.
Aisling closed her eyes, letting the fickle sunlight warm her face, and hummed softly to herself. After a few minutes, she sat up, examining the ground at the edge of the lake. She picked up a flat, smooth stone and drew her arm back, closing one eye to aim. Her arm shot forward and she released the stone, counting as it hit the surface of the lake one, two, three times before sinking. Skipping stones was like knocking on a door, she thought. When after a few moments nothing happened, she picked up another two stones, holding them together and skipping them the same as before. This time, the skipping rocks appeared to be one for the first two skips - and then as one rock sunk, a second seemed to appear out of it and skipped once more before sinking.
Hopefully that would get someone's attention.
