Physical Description
5'10" (178 cm) and 155 lbs (11 st, or 70 kg), Ramsay is notably lanky. She has smooth, unblemished skin—upon which she often dons a touch of makeup; a bit of blush, eyeshadow, the like—and neatly cut, short black hair. Her eyes are set wide apart and of a blue so cold as to suggest a silverish color.

She has, upon her rightmost arm, a tattoo sleeve that runs from shoulder to wrist. It is composed of many vividly colored individual pieces. Upon both ears she regularly wears a set of three lobe piercings, permanently adorned with silver hoops.

Her style of dress is flamboyant enough: the only regular article that she wears is a knee-length red overcoat, the lapel and collar flared dramatically. Shirts consist of tucked blouses of varying bright colors—often mismatched with her coat—and upon her lower body she most frequently wears dark slacks (sometimes patterned), tucked into calf-length leather traveling boots.

A native Londoner, Augusta's dialect is a light Cockney—unobtrusive enough that she can be understood, but thick enough to easily place her hometown. She speaks quietly, at times forcing her conversation partners to lean in to hear her speak—and her tone is low and throaty.

Personality Description
Augusta is a mixed bag of traits.

She is confident enough to dress and style herself very flamboyantly (and unprofessionally, as some of her superiors note in performance evaluations), and utterly convinced of her talent as a witch—but, in spite of this, rather shy. She is quiet and reserved in her career and around strangers, and has difficulty adjusting to new faces. As a rule of thumb, she lets her partner take the lead in investigative interrogation, just to avoid any awkwardness.

That is not, of course, to suggest that Augusta possesses a lack of character or will: when she is sure of her position, she refuses to back down, and rarely second guesses her own actions. It is, for the most part, a deeply set social anxiety—and perhaps the inherent meekness of growing up as the baby of the family—that restrains her from mingling unashamedly.

For an undefined reason—perhaps she was simply born this way?—Augusta has a tendency to lean towards pessimism and negativity, rarely vocalizing pleasant thoughts in bad situations. She often focuses on the bad rather than attempting to see the good, and is not the best comrade to go to when your spirits are low.

Augusta is brave, though—given her choice of career—that ought not come as a surprise. She is both fearless and daring, and willing to sacrifice herself to what she deems to be a greater cause, should the need arise.

A nasty "first love" in her youth has left Augusta somewhat damaged, and she is known not to keep intimate company for long. She has shared her bedroom with a significant number of both men and women over the years, but has never, to anybody's knowledge, been in a fully fledged relationship.

Nonetheless, Augusta develops and covets what serious friendships she can manage, a difficulty predicated entirely by an individual's ability to tough out the latent awkward phase of meeting her. She would do anything for a true friend, and likewise grant most favors asked of her by her colleagues.

History
Augusta Victoria Ramsay was born in 1983 to a mixed-blood wizard and witch: Gilbert Ramsay (known by his friends as "Gil") and Dorothy Ramsay (née Spencer). She is the youngest of three girls, her sisters Freya and Eleanor born in 1980 and 1976, respectively.

Her home life in Southwark was pleasant enough, learning of the wizarding world at a young age—but buried deeply enough in the muggle world to learn just as much of non-magical culture. Gil and Dorothy were loving parents, if strict and demanding at times.

What is undeniable is that the Ramsays raised talented witches: Eleanor is a renowned and respected healer in the employ of St. Mungo's, and Freya was the Keeper for Puddlemere United from 1999 to 2007, trading to the Wimbourne Wasps in 2008.

Augusta spent seven years at Hogwarts in house Gryffindor. She never held any proper titles, but was an extremely gifted student and regular member of the Dueling Club. Her disciplinary record at school was somewhat less than stellar, given a tendency to buck authority—but she was never punished for malicious or excessive behavior.

Her third year was soundly interrupted by the Second Wizarding War, Hogwarts almost unrecognizable under the auspices of Headmaster Severus Snape. Though she was too young to participate in the Battle of Hogwarts, she lost more than one friend, and—particularly devastating—an older boy whom she has long suspected she was in love with, though her feelings were quite unrequited.

Nonetheless, Augusta graduated from Hogwarts in 2002 and, having managed seven N.E.W.T.s and possessing rather a lot of talent with offensive and defensive magic, applied to become an auror.

The training was difficult, lasting just over three years, but she performed well enough to qualify in early 2006. She has worked for the Auror's Office ever since, possessing an exemplary record and work ethic—wholly devoted to her career—even if her quarterly performance evaluations suggest that she may be a bit of a troublemaker.

Duties
An auror is, roughly speaking, a "dark wizard catcher." The job entails high-caliber law enforcement, functioning simultaneously as peacekeepers and soldiers, and is—unsurprisingly—very dangerous. Regular activities include locating and monitoring dark magic and the wizards that perform it, combating and capturing practitioners of the dark arts, and investigating crimes that involve the aforementioned.

Augusta is a rather talented auror—though, strictly speaking, aurors are a talented bunch—particularly skilled and well-versed in offensive and defensive magic. She is an excellent man tracker, highly capable of concealing herself and operating under stealth. Her weakest subject matter are potions, though she gets by when it comes to poisons and antidotes.

She has been an auror for five years, as of early 2011, and has an unblemished record.

Though she performs her duties astonishingly well, Augusta has a knack for flouting authority, and isn't afraid to disobey orders or instructions should she disagree with them and be left to her own devices. In a team environment, though, she typically follows orders without question—understanding that obeying your team leader could well be the difference between life and death in the field.

That said, she has no official disciplinary record at the Ministry.

Expertise
Augusta qualified to become an auror trainee by managing seven N.E.W.T.s, in particular Defense, Potions, and Transfiguration. She showed tremendous raw talent during her training, and—at the end of three years—qualified to become an auror with very little trouble.

Summary
Augusta Ramsay is a twenty-seven year old witch, in the employ of the Auror's Office of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. She is respected and reasonably well-liked by her colleagues, if not a bit standoffish and awkward to strangers. Somewhat emotionally stunted, Augusta has managed a string of hollow flings for the majority of her adult life, never settling for any individual person or expressing serious romantic interest. She is, overall, very devoted to her career, and likely to carry on as an auror until she dies or retires.
