Property of Ms. Stokes Noble on March 21, 2017, 03:13:06 AM In the possession of Ms. Elizabeth Stokes Noble is one brown leather bound journal, acquired on 16 January 2011. As of now, it is kept in the drawer of a bedside table at 37 Manor Drive, Danehill, East Sussex, United Kingdom—or otherwise at 17 Hilltop Lane, Farnham, Surrey, United Kingdom, on a nearly full bookshelf in what is ostensibly the guest room, but is in practice Elizabeth's second bedroom. 31 May 2011I'm leaving for grandmum and granddad's in Surrey tomorrow. I'm so excited! Mum's tagging along so that the four of us can go to Diagon Alley to purchase my school supplies for 1 September.I received my letter in February, shortly after my eleventh birthday—of course, I knew the letter was coming since I was six, when I used magic by accident. I don't remember it well, to be honest, but mum says I wandered out into traffic at Windlesham and nearly managed to get run over. Not that anybody at Windlesham remembers that, mind. Mum said the 'Ministry of Magic,' the wizard government, sent 'Obliviators'—wizards that know how to erase or modify people's memories—to make sure that the commuters that drove through me and my PE teacher and classmates wouldn't remember that I had done magic.Anyway—tomorrow we're going to Diagon Alley, like I said, to get my school supplies. My uniform, dragonhide gloves, my course books, a size two cauldron, but—and this is what I'm most excited about, of course—my very own wand!Mum says she and grandmum will be taking me to Ollivander's. He's a very old wizard that makes most of the wands in Britain. She told dad that Ollivander's not cheap, but worth every galleon. He agreed, of course—he's not terribly knowledgeable about the world of magic, so he tends to go along with whatever mum says.Mum's coming back to Danehill on the 2nd, and I'll be spending the rest of the summer with grandmum and granddad, which should be fun. Grandmum's promised me loads of trips to Diagon Alley, and more flying lessons. I asked if she'd teach me some magic—you know, so I can get a bit of a head start—but she said that it's illegal for underage wizards to perform magic outside of Hogwarts, so... I suppose I'll have to content myself with reading the course books, won't I?Grandmum said she has a surprise for me, too—something she's going to pick up for me in Diagon Alley, I think. Maybe a pet? The letter said that students are allowed to bring a pet to school. Oh, I hope it's an owl... I don't fancy carrying a toad to school, and I'm quite allergic to cats!I expect I'll write again tomorrow night, then. Sure to be a busy day.Until then!– Liz Skip to next post
