“… at least until we can ascertain her motivations behind what was done to you both.”
Ignan listened quietly, rather thoughtful about it all. Hannah Bombay had come because she needed to die and be brought back. Nobody willingly asked someone to mortally wound them unless it was to escape something. Miranda was the best healer, or perhaps the only alternative healer, Lawrence knew to find, and knew to intimidate. Hannah was once intending to marry Ignan’s young cousin, so the professor wasn’t entirely sure of her motives in life.
To his surprise, Miranda elaborated on the night she went missing with no recollection. At the time she had been insistent on not reporting it, feeling silly over it all. Here she was now, telling the Head of the Department.
“It seems a plausible reason,” Ignan agreed, backing up his wife. His gaze remained on her as he explained to Carstairs. “Whoever owled Miranda that night to leave the house was not someone she’d mention in conversation to me, yet either trustworthy or interesting enough for her to go. It wasn’t a summons from the hospital. She was found fully clothed in her office by Gerda, our house elf. Miranda instructed me to check her memories, and the interruption was consistent with obliviation.”
Speaking calmly, Ignan averted his gaze to give reason,
"We did not report it at the time, due to how vague the situation was. Though, a head injury was sustained, nothing else appeared to suggest a sinister incident.”
