Physical Description:
Celene is short, only 5'2. As she didn't reach the height of 5 foot until after her 14th birthday, there was some concern that she would never be able to reach the potions rack without a stool. She's stocky and curvy as well. She will tell you that her eyes are green, but others have told her that her eyes look blue or grey. Her hair is brown, with hints of deep red. It's fine and wavy, and kind of unmanageable, so she often keeps it a short. Her current haircut as an asymmetrical pixie cut with bangs that fall over the left side of her face. She has a round face and a button nose. Her brows are thick for a girls, and meaner children have made fun of her for it. She's blind as a bat, so she wears glasses while she's at school. Out in the world, however, she prefers contacts (she has better access to muggle technology outside of school).
She speaks with a Scottish accent, takes great care to be well dressed. Outside school, she’s well known for mixing muggle and wizard fashion into interesting combinations that are generally well received by wizards and muggles alike.
Personality Description:
Celene is good at making friends, but not very good at making best friends. It’s not that she doesn’t want to, it’s just that she rarely lets her connections with people get that real because she suffers from terrible anxiety. She always afraid that she’s imposing, or annoying, and it causes her to keep her distance from people she’d like to get closer to.
She takes incredible pride in her academic achievements, and often looks down on people who do poorly in school, though she’d never say it to their face. (But has been known to talk about people behind their back). So far at Hogwarts, she’s been near the top of the class, and well-liked by her teachers. But she’s headed for her exams, and classes are getting harder and more exclusive, and she’s starting to realize she’s actually nothing special. In reality, she is good at a lot of different things, but she exceptional at nothing.
She really, really, wants people to like her. She goes out of her way to be nice to people, in hopes that it make them like her. She hates the idea that there might be someone out there that dislikes her. Her worst fear right now, other than failing to reach her career goals, is that she might get in trouble in any way. She becomes distraught if she’s ever reprimanded.
At the end of the day however, underneath all her anxieties and character flaws, she’s actually an incredible compassionate person. This has led her to love all sorts of magical beasts. Ever since she was little she’s told everyone that she wants to own a shop where she cares for magical creatures (i.e. a magical creature veterinarian). It’s an all-consuming goal for her right now, and she would consider her life a disaster if she failed to achieve it.
History:
Celene grew up on the Isle of Man as an only child. Her life there was quaint, she was surrounded by gorgeous scenery, her parents loved her, and nothing very interesting happened to her. It’s because of this that once she got to school, Celene realized that she was boring and ordinary, and that she wanted to have more adventures so that people would find her more interesting. Luckily for Celene, both sides of her family are large, and stay in contact fairly well, so she found it easy to reach out and form friendships with both her maternal cousin Niobe Thursby-Flynn and her paternal uncle Arthfael Cunubelinus Oglesbee (Old Uncle Artie). While she stays in contact with her parents and visits them regularly, she spends most of her holidays and summers living with either Niobe or Uncle Artie. She enjoys the company of both of them greatly, but gets along with each of them differently. Her personality clashes with that of her uncle’s (he is brash and loud, and all she wants is to follow the rules and make a good impression), but because he works as a Beast Handler for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures (DRCMC), she knows that spending time with him will more advantageous for her career goals. Because of this, she spends her shorter breaks (like the holidays ) with Artie (because she can usually only stand living with him for short amounts of time) and will sometimes spend a few weeks to a month with him during the summer when he travels for his job, learning all that she can. They spend their time yelling at each other about various things and shop-talking about the care of magical beasts.
Because she gets along much better with her cousin Niobe, she usually chooses to spend most of her summers living in Niobe’s studio flat in London. It’s much less beneficial to her career goals, but vastly more entertaining. While there, she spends her time exploring London, or going out with Niobe when Niobe’s looking for leads for her next story for the Daily Prophet.
The first two years at Hogwarts were fairly easy for Celene. She was apprehensive about being sorted into Slytherin (It has such a terrible history), but quickly got over it after realizing the rumors were not true, and that not every single Slytherin student was a terrible person. In those early years she established herself as a straight O student (outstanding), and spent most of her time hanging out with other high academically achieving students. During her third, and especially, her fourth year, she found that she had to start doing much more intensive studying to keep her grades up. As this happened, she became less and less comfortable amongst the academic overachievers, and began to withdraw from them, thinking herself no longer fit to be amongst them. Her grades began to slip at the end of her 4th year, and she’s now beginning to worry that she might not even be smart enough to be a Beast Healer (she is, she’s just freaking out a little bit). In reality her grades are good, there just not straight O’s anymore. She now finds herself caught between two worlds; the less studious kids don’t get why she spends so much time studying, and the overachievers don’t understand why she doesn’t have perfect grades. (“You’ll never get anywhere in life without perfect grades” they say).

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
Celene was chosen for Slytherin because she’s ambitious and incredibly driven. She has a tendency to look down on those who have not achieved her personal ideal of success (which is currently academic success). She wants what she wants, and she’s going to work very hard to get it.
Writing Sample:
Celene exasperatedly blew her bangs out of her face and thought for the thousandth time that maybe this haircut was a mistake. She again looked under her bed- nothing. A few books and cat toys were scattered under there, but nothing that could be her wayward history of magic assignment. She began to panic.
“Defense of dark arts starts in less than 10 minutes, and I can’t find that stupid thing anywhere!” What am I going to do if I’m late?!?” She cried to her cat Cricket, who only blinked slowly at her in reply.
“The one time I don’t wait until the last minute to do an assignment, and I lose the dumb thing” she said dejectedly, throwing herself down on her bed.
Her mind began to spiral. “I can’t be late for dark arts, and after that I have the exam in potions, and I won’t have time to come back here before history to look for my assignment!”
Everything is awful” she said, sitting up. Some of the papers that had been strewn across the bed stuck to her as she rose. She brushed them off, taking a deep breath.
“You are wasting time” she said to herself sternly, feeling a renewed sense of determination. She rifled through the papers covering her bed one last time, triumphantly discovering her quarry underneath Cricket’s front paw. The cat merfed in an offended manner, but she ignored him. She quickly threw on her robe and gathered her up her books and papers in her typical disorganized manner.
“Be good today Cricket, don’t get into trouble, and I’ll be back this afternoon” she called behind her, as she scampered off to class.
Sum up your character in one paragraph:
She's a typical teenager in a lot of ways, and an oddball in others. She loves her cat, she wants to make friends, and she wants to do well in school. She's terrified of making mistakes or getting in to trouble. Sometimes her peers don't quite understand her, because it seems to them that she has her whole future mapped out, and she really just needs to chill out a little bit.
