MAO, Ministry of Magic. London. From: V. Carstairs. Owlery, Hogwarts. Scotland.21st April '11Mr Eleor,I am writing as an interested reader of your Daily Prophet article. It was highly informative (entirely lacking in the usual Prophet style, which I'm sure you know is detrimental to any cause) and I thank you for going to the extents of research. But I don't wish to waste your time on felicitations. Is LUMOS a publicity initiative? Proliferation of information? Guilt-tripping the general public? Satisfying, I assume, if knowledge were all it took to make people care.Presupposing my sympathy for this issue exists, what contributions to LUMOS might a concerned member of the public offer? Counselor Biladeau-Yukawa[1] speaks well of you. Responding with platitudes about spreading awareness would ruin the favourable impression. I'm sure your inner eye realises as much. 1. It's always a relief when you manage to write something someone thought worth reading. And prompt to action. As for your concerns about guilt-tripping and, as you said, platitudes, well, Virgil, I must say, it is certainly good to hold your public servants accountable for what they say. I'll start to lay the concerns to rest: the article was meant to raise awareness, yes. Unlike you, I don't seem to think awareness a platitude or anything to sniff at. But I also know awareness means nothing if it does not, ultimately, result in action. There will be plenty of that, down the line. One needs to open people up to the necessity, first, though, don't you think? On that note, the first thing you can do is find me at the MAO table tomorrow at Hogwarts' Career Fair, where there will be a great deal more information on what concerned members of the public might be able to do. Have you given much thought to your plans post-graduation? If a career is already in the works--which I understand is the case for a great many already--perhaps you might consider a week or two of your time over the summer a worthy donation to the cause.Best,Dreogan Eleor Skip to next post Re: [April 21st] The Terror of Knowing (Dree) Reply #2 on December 07, 2016, 11:50:55 AM The letter arrives late in the evening, a less formal script and tone than previously. To: D. Eleor. London. From: V. Carstairs.Hogwarts,Scotland.It is possible that our school counselor is not utterly wrong in the singing of her praises. I will see you at the career fair. My graduation plans will take me to the Department of Mysteries but I don't believe that will interfere with my interests in your campaign. Thank you for the prompt response.
