[Feb 26] Thank you for not being dead [PM]

on September 09, 2016, 03:46:24 PM

Mai had been in a perpetual state of worry ever since she heard the news from Shona--Leon had been attacked, and Rick's shop destroyed. 2011 had barely begun, and it seemed like everybody was experiencing five years worth of disaster all at once. No one could catch a break.

Dressed for the cold and rainy weather, she made her way to the fourth floor of Mungo's. The hospital smelled like, well... A hospital. Astringent. Clean. A few familiar healers caught her eye, and she greeted them with a quick smile and an awkward head nod regardless of whether or not they actually noticed. It felt like forever, but she finally found Leon-- surrounded by flowers and presents. Clearly, he had an army of people who liked him. Good.

"Leeeon." Mai began, "I brought you something--" She jostled a ziplock bag full of chocolate chip cookies before placing it on his lap. As soon as her hands were free, she enveloped him in a gentle hug and peppered his face with kisses. "Thank you for not being dead." She said, taking a seat in one of the free chairs next to the bed. "Are you bored? Do you need anything? Books? Magazines? =" Rick was probably on top of making sure that Leon was well cared for, but the extra help couldn't hurt. Rick needed time to take care of himself, too-- she was concerned that he would get burned out otherwise if he didn't.

Like most people, Leon didn’t like hospitals. Between his siblings (mostly Phillip), he’d spent more than his fair share of time in hospitals. It being a magical hospital didn’t help – it was more similar to the muggle equivalent than anywhere else he’d been, but his ipod wouldn’t work.

Really, he wasn’t having a particularly difficult time. Rick had been with him as often as he could be, and between his friends and family, he was rarely alone. It was nice to get some quiet, for once, and Rick needed to go home. Leon was glad – relieved – that Rick was spending so much time with him, but he had a bed and got given food, unlike Rick, and Rick was… upset. Not that he wasn’t, but Rick was more so. For Leon, the lasting impacts were physical. Rick was dealing with misplaced guilt.
“Hey Maiko,” Leon said, cheering up considerably. “I’ve got plenty to read, thanks.”

“Oh my god, cookies,” Leon said, delighted. Maiko was an excellent baker, so he was sure that they would be delicious. He wasted no time in opening the bag, offering it to Maiko before taking one for himself. “Thank you for making these. It’s really sweet of you,” he said, beaming as he took a bite.

“How are you?” He asked, “how’s Hogwarts doing?” He’d heard about the recent disasters, and he was sure that Maiko was trying her best to make sure that the students were okay.
