Saturday, 3:30 in the afternoon[1]Life was finally starting to feel a little normal again. It'd been almost exactly a month since the kidnappings, something that would hang over their heads for quite some time - Josiah knew and accepted that as a fact... but he also felt like maybe doing normal type things would make it feel less heavy. He'd been toying with this band idea for ages but now felt like a good time to offer up a distraction.
He'd doubled checked with Gracie to be sure the yearbook meeting would be over before he'd started hanging fliers around the castle about band auditions. They were pretty basic but then they didn't need to be fancy (at least that's what he'd told himself as he went around sticking them to doors and walls). He'd moved several of his own instruments into the RoR, and borrowed a few more from the Hogwarts Orchestra.
Hopping onto the edge of the hastily magic'd stage, Joey sat in a half lotus position and retreved his song book from the depths of his bag. He was working on band names. Something edgy like Nola and the Kockturnals, trying to stay distinctly away from the poppy tone of The Firebolt Five. There were several discarded names with heavy lines through them like Knockturnal Emissions, and Majestic Thestral.
He had really liked Knockturnal Emissions but when Ettie Grimstone had caught him trying to design a logo during History of Magic she had shrieked a bit at him after lessons how that was totally gross. He thought it was clever! AND edgy! But then he'd felt bad for making her really uncomfortable. She was a nice girl and the idea that everyone would have the same reaction had made himm nix the idea.
Now he'd have to get input from bandmates, but maybe that was better.
Whatever the outcome he was starting to get nervous no one would even bother to show up.
