[Feb 11] White Wedding, White Lies [Cepheus]

Wrapped in the letter is a tear out of their artlce Pureblood Passion.  Little hearts are drawn onto Cepheus’ picture and some of the key pharses are underlined throughout with little annotations to the side that are silly versions of the same thing: I wasn’t aware of this, were you?

Cepheus,

How anyone has not realized that you are as gay as a picnic wrapped in a rainbow is beyond me.  On that note, I am looking forward to our impending nuptials. At this point, as the article so aptly points out, I am very good at being the center of a scene at a party, so I’m sure it would be an excellent time to stage a very public coming out.  Much better than just showing up to next Christmas with your boyfriend.  The headlines would last for weeks.  There'd surely be no confusion if you ran off from the ceremony with some willing young man (he will be acquired through the planning stage of this disaster).

We can discuss the rest of the details next weekend, I’m sure.  You do owe me a trail ride!  (Yes, I do remember – I am as impressed as you are, no doubt).  Next Saturday?  Our adoring public, so intent on seeing our marital bliss, will undoubtedly salivate at the notion we'll be enjoying a weekend activity.

Your soon to be blushing bride,
Primrose

Prim,

Thank you for your letter earlier this evening. Madam Snigger has managed to ruffle more than a few feathers since the start of the year - though I had not anticipated we would be worthy topics. My congratulations on the double write-up, though - Prophet and Weekly in the space of five days. Much as I am willing to help a friend, now is not the time I paint the town pink, so to speak, though your suggestion raised a smile. I am sure Balfour and I can convince a floor-wide ban of WW, if not a Ministry one now.

You will thank you sister for her complimentary quote to Snigger, won’t you? I’ll have to show this to my sister. Andromeda believes Amaryllis is sweet on me. Auror or not, she’s entirely misled, and I can’t see Amaryllis giving such a quote quite so graciously of us as a couple if she harboured any hint of jealousy.

Just do your best to ignore it. I know it’s very hard. If it helps, you’re welcome to visit and we can compose some truly horrible howlers for Snigger and finish another bottle of wine. Though I am sure one has more captivating company to spend an evening with. However, as cover-stories go, you may have that one.

I would be delighted to ride with you next Saturday. Thank you for the invitation. Please let me know a time nearer the day. (I shall recover suitable attire and hope it still fits!)

Have a lovely weekend.

Your decoy,

Ceph,

I’m sure some select members of the Wizengamot might get behind the idea of banning WW.  I will be sure to bring it up to any of my contacts.  Though, I’m certain your proposal would be much more readily accepted.  History would indicate as much (I haven’t had much luck in that arena, as you are – and the rest of the wizarding world at this point – are now keenly aware).  I’m just glad the Prophet was more focused on the Prewetts than me.  The scandal is a much more tantalizing story.

Amaryllis clearly knows all about that.  She is lucky I love her and think the world of her or I might have never spoken to her again.  But, despite my love, she is woefully misinformed.  I think sometimes her friends get into her head and wipe out all trace of an observant, intelligent person!  It was a much more flattering portrait of both of us than anyone else might have given though, and for that, I can be grateful.

I’m not upset by any of it anway, mind you.

Let Lil Snigger write whatever she (he?) pleases.  Enough wine and good company will make all of it go away anyhow.  Don’t undersell yourself, Cepheus! You’re captivating company, and obviously someone I would not mind leaning into at a pub on a Friday evening! Granted, I might have less wholesome plans afterward…. (quote that, Lil Snigger!).

Why don’t we say two o’clock?  Morris will be so pleased to see you!  Let me know if that works for you, if not by owl, a memo will do just as well.

Your future wife,
Primrose

Dear Prim,

I am glad to hear you are in fine spirit despite the situation. You are a marvel, truly resilient. We shall forgive Amaryllis, as you are right, she gave a most flattering portrait.

Sorry to appear to undersell oneself - I was perhaps preoccupied with notions that my planned weekend events would result in humiliating disaster. My sister coerced me into attending a blind-date event at Rover’s Fancy on Saturday evening. Although I did have a good time, no, I will not be debuting with a man on my arm in our society’s public any time soon. You, on the other hand, must have had a far more enjoyable weekend with your new company, and have my congratulations. Both of you.

Two o’clock Saturday shall be most suitable. I will be pleased to acquaint myself with Morris if he is as steadfast as you previously described. I only hope my legs and backside are as pleased post-ride! One hobby I should have kept up after my teenage years. I am very much looking forward to it, company and activity, that is.

I shall undoubtedly see you during the week in the office, but wishing you a straightforward week regardless.

Your reserve,
