The owl delivered two letters, both addressed to Margo in Nate's hand. In the first envelope is a sheet of paper, covered in large, childish handwriting, clearly by Callie.

Calliope insisted that she send you a letter. Or rather, that Princess Grandma sends you a letter. She is learning how to write, but cannot spell. I gladly took part in insulting your intelligence but she also insisted that I don't know how to spell 'dumb' or 'princess.' I encourage you to frame it and keep in order to embarrass her when shes a teenager.

The return owl also has two letters.  Both are in Margo’s handwriting, though the one to Callie is also covered in purple “paw prints” which are just Margo’s terrible doodles.  She has clearly tried on this, even if it is a spectacular failure.  Additionally, her letter to Callie is written in crayon.  Her letter to Nate is also written in crayon, but much neater.  Don’t ask her why she has crayons.

You don’t need to make excuses.  I know you had to look up ‘princess’ and ‘dumb’ after you helped Callie.  I’m okay with it; I never liked you for your intelligence anyway.  (Just kidding! …Sort of.  Definitely abs and eyes first, but who is keeping track?)

Anyway!  Note taken and frame being purchased.  Seventeenth birthday present already taken care of.  Looks like I’m the best and you’re clearly behind.
