Wand: 13 and a 1/2 inches  long made out of chestnut wood with a  supple bent shaft and dragon heart string core.

    Physical Description:
A bright smile with a touch of impishness is always pulling at Maddy’s lips. Her green eyes tend to gleam with mirth even when she’s frowning, which is a rare occurrence. She’s a whopping 5 feet two inches tall and is thankful she has reached that height. When she wears heels, which is often, she practically towers over her poor mum who is 4’10. She has light skin that turns pink rather than tan and she’s got some freckles that she tries to hide with makeup.  She wears her dark brown hair long, in waves past her shoulders. Sometimes she magically straightens it or lightens up the coffee color strands with wild colors. She’s been known to put a feather or two in her hair.

She's neither plump nor thin and has an adequate amount of womanly curves. She wishes she had a bit more of a bosom , but is rather thankful for her nearly size C cup. She'd spent many a night during her fourth year praying that she'd grow a chest and despaired that she'd be as flat as a boy forever.

Maddy's natural energy and enthusiasm expresses  itself in her movements like her bouncing stroll or the way she talks with her hands. A muggleborn once compared her gait to that of the animated cartoon tigger. When not at work, Maddy loves to wear colorful clothing. As a child she enjoyed dress up and would often be seen wearing wings and crowns with tutus as everyday wear. She was famous for dressing up for every holiday and took the tradition with her to Hogwarts. Maddy’s dress is still a bit out there. She loves to pair an outdated piece of clothing with something more modern. She also experiments with odd patterns and colors. Her clothing is an expression of her mood. If she’s a bit gloomy she’ll wear more comfy clothes with less color. If she’s feeling wild she might wear a cute dress. She also loves to wear hats of all kinds and has quite the collection of what her brother has deemed old lady hats.

    Personality Description:
Maddy is a friendly, cheerful person. She’s the type that always says hello to strangers, human and animal alike. She has a habit of taking in strays and those who are wounded. She believes that everyone has a bit of good in them and deserve kindness and respect. She implicitly trusts everyone to a certain extent. Her trusting nature can be a hindrance and she’s gotten into some dicey situations because she trusted in someone. As she’s grown older she’s questioning people more and more. She’s also aware that not everyone is entirely trustworthy and that she must take what people say to her with a grain of salt. She knows not to approach someone in a dark alley. However, She’s willing to overlook faults in people, giving them the benefit of the doubt, even when others warn her not to. She’s not one to easily give up nor is she deterred by caustic sarcastic comments. She’s stubborn and has an obstante streak. Her innate response is to do the opposite of what she is told. Sometimes she has to fight her natural response to be contrary.  She’s got a bit of a rebellious steak, especially when it comes to fighting for her beliefs. She tends to fight for any cause she believes is just and is prepared to go beyond the norms to do so. She’s also a loyal friend but is independent and while she stands up for her friends she also doesn’t follow them blindly. She’ll question and be the voice of reason, offering both side of the issue.

She spent her childhood among surly sarcastic types and is not put off by rudeness. Actually, she kind of likes befriending the rude types and enjoys verbal sparring.   She has a habit of asking too many questions and tends to pry into other people’s business a bit. She’s curious about people and wants to understand them. She also is fascinated by history and enjoys listening to people’s stories and experiences. She’s an auditory learner and retains information through listening rather than reading. She still struggles a bit with reading and writing, especially if she’s stressed or tired. Letters tend to get jumbled, or out of order if she rushes. She’d much rather listen to someone read to her or tell her about something. Her reliance on listening has helped her develop a strong memory. She can almost recall what someone has told her verbatim. She’s self conscious about her struggles with reading and writing. She doesn’t like writing things, and tends to keep things short and sweet because she has a tendency to write letters backwards if she rushes. She’d much rather dictate her words to a quill and have it write for her.

Maddy has a tendency to be dramatic and might not always explain things accurately. She has a bad habit of exaggerating details when she is telling a story especially quantities. Maddy has a tendency to hide behind frivolity. She loves to laugh and be happy. She enjoys being around people and doesn’t really like being alone. She likes to try knew things and she’s always looking for suggestions for a new hobby. She’s always searching out new friends. She’d rather be sitting in a pub or a club, even though she might not like the music, just to not be alone. Being alone is draining and she recharges by being with people.  She’s rather even tempered but over time resentment builds and she just lets loose erupting quickly and then her anger is gone.

    History:
Maddy had a relatively normal childhood in the Scottish countryside. Her parents are pretty solid people and raised their children to be good, honest and loyal. Her father, Alex, is the stoic silent type. He is an auror and is over protective of his family. Her mother Ellie is a healer with a bossy streak the size of the Thames. For a midget she has a commanding presence and while she expected her children to follow the rules she also taught them to be themselves. Her mother especially encouraged Maddy to embrace her creativity.

Maddy is the second child of four children and the only girl. Her older brother Elias, is physically only 11 months older than her but he has an old soul and strangers often thought he was several years older than her while growing up. Maddy was eight when the twins, Nathan and Kristopher were born. When the boys got older she liked to play with them and often enticed them to help play tricks on Elias. Nathan usually played along while, Kristopher would usually ignore Maddy and do his own thing.
Maddy was an energetic child who could never keep still for very long. She was always dashing off somewhere and spent most of her childhood outside “discovering things”. She was always bringing home some odd plant or stray animal. By the time she was nine she had seven dogs, three cats, a flying horse named Firey the Flaming speed demon, and a bush full of garden gnomes that she liked to rile up. Her family had several acres of land that bordered a wooded area that had probably been a forest a long time ago.  She had a wild imagination and loved making up stories. She often would tell tales about how mermaids lived in the pond in the woods and how they came to dance in the fields at night. Her creatively was also expressed through clothes. From a young age her mum let her pick out her outfits. This meant that Maddy spent most of her time in a muggle princess dress her favorite cousin had given her. While her parents were both half bloods, her father’s brother had been raised in the muggle world and his children had grown up in both worlds. Maddy too became familiar with some muggle customs because of her family. She often spent time with her extended family, who lived in Godricks Hollow.

When Maddy wasn’t exploring outside she was getting into mischief in doors. Her favorite hobby was irritating Elias. His face turned purple when he got all annoyed and his voice rose several octaves. He was such a serious person with all of his reading and  experiments. Rumor has it that she’s been annoying him since the day she was born. She’d always been a loud baby and he was the quite type. They’ve spent their childhood bickering and one upping each other. This carried into Hogwarts where Elias continued the family tradition and was sorted into Ravenclaw like their parents and Maddy went into Hufflepuff.

Traditional schooling was challenging for Maddy. From an early age she had trouble reading. The words kept jumbling in her head and she could never seem to get them straight. Reading was such a trial for her and she’s never really enjoyed it. It’s a chore that has to be done only in the most dire of circumstances. She’s much better at listening to people and retaining knowledge that way. She learns best if she can just listen to a lecture without taking notes and ask lots of questions. Not all of her professors appreciated her unique learning style and many thought she was not paying attention if her quill wasn’t moving. Maddy did better in the more hands on subjects like care of magical creatures, charms and herbology. However, she did struggle with potions. More than once she’d melted a cauldron because she misread the numbers and read 12 as 21.  She did much better when performing spells and had really good recall for incantations. It was the written part that she struggled with. She did rather well in her early years at Hogwarts because she could learn most of the material needed to pass by listening to lectures. After third year though, she missed out on large chucks of material because she couldn’t keep up with the reading. She joined a few study groups and would listen to her study partners to get what she needed but study groups were unreliable. She learned how to do a charm where the book would read aloud to her during her fifth year, this helped a lot and she could often be found in an empty classroom just listening to her books talk.

Her O.W.L. scores were all over the place. She’d gotten only one O and that was for Care of Magical Creatures where the practical was worth far more than the written assignment. She has a natural talent for caring for animals and her parents thought she might try and become a magizoologist after she finished school. She got a dreadful in potions for screwing up the practical and causing a toxic looking green slime to pour over her cauldron.  While History of magic was one of her favorite classes, since it was basically stories with a point, she struggled writing the required essay. She knew the information but couldn’t write it down fast enough and she didn’t finish the exam. The parchment she turned in was covered in ink spots and many of the words were spelled in correctly or the letters were backwards. She’d gotten a Poor but if she had finished the exam it probably would have been an A.  She’d gotten an Exceeds Expectations in Herbology  by identifying all of the practical plants. She’d gotten a poor in transfiguration and an Acceptable in Charms and Defense against the Dark arts. During her sixth year she repeated transfiguration and History of magic and took NEWT level Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. She only passed Care of a Magical Creatures.

Maddy made many friends through out her years at Hogwarts. She’s a sociable kind of gal and loves listening to people. She’s also a bit nosey and had gotten into some trouble by asking to many pointed questions. She’d gotten more than one detention for going into the Forbidden Forrest or for talking excessively in class.  She dated a bit in school but was never serious with any one person. She’s a little on the immature side and really didn’t think to pursue boys until her sixth year.

After Hogwarts, Maddy was at a loss of what to do. Her brother had top marks in school and could do whatever he wanted. She’d only passed NEWT level care of magical creatures and had 4 OWLS. That first summer after Hogwarts she spent it at home taking care of the animals and babysitting the twins. Elias went to do an internship at the ministry of magic and she was home trying to figure out what she could do. She was okay at wand work. She could do basic transfiguration and charms but she wasn’t skilled enough to turn that into a job. She hated the idea of desk work and she dreaded the idea of being a welcome witch at St. Mungos. She didn’t like the smell of the hospital. Plus she’d have to fill out paperwork and concentrating at writing legibility for hours on end gave her a headache. She earned a bit of side money pet sitting for her parent’s friends but it didn’t bring in much. Her only real skills were taking care of animals, talking and fashion. Working in sales was her best bet and she tried to find a job selling stuff. She first went to the Magical Emporium since she had experience taking care of magical creatures and it had been her best class but she’d been told that there wasn’t any entry level position open at the time. Maddy wasn’t sure that she actually believed the person behind the counter who’d sneered at her appearance.  Since she enjoyed fashion, still had a penchant for dressing up and had learned to sew a little she thought maybe she could work in the fashion industry. Her parents weren’t exactly thrilled with that idea. With a bit of luck and perfect timing Maddy got the shop assistant job at Madam Malkins. She’s been working there for several months now and rather likes it. She rings up purchases, helps people find clothes and sets up appointments with the designer Coralie. It’s a nice place to work and she enjoys talking with the customers. She gets a little antsy being inside the whole day. She’s saving up to move out of her parent’s house and is looking for roommates.
