Physical Description:
Gertrude is slender with a long neck and legs. Her hair is as straight and thin as she is, and she has had a consistent haircut throughout her adult life: just past the shoulders. She'd made the mistake of cutting a fringe into her hair as a teenager and since growing them out has never gone back. Gertrude struggled with her weight during those years as well, and then suddenly she grew into her looks. Her dimples stayed on a face that also kept her chubby cheeks. She takes great care to look her best, and with an elegant fashion sense she looks clean cut and classy. She enjoys bright colors and patterns, with well-tailored clothes and delicate accessories.


Personality Description:
Honesty is important to Trudy, and so she tries to implement this into all parts of her life. Her looks match her personality: classy, bright, and flattering. Gertrude is a people-person through and through, always going to great lengths to satisfy not only customers, but friends and family as well. She is an excellent mediator, who comes up quickly with compromises and can creatively solve problems.

Plucky and enterprising Trudy puts these traits to good use as an event coordinator -- she does everything in her power to give her clients the party of a lifetime. Although sometimes she bites off more than she can chew, her overachieving determination, perfectionism, and friendly demeanor help her get things done. Her strong resolve to people-please comes from her lifelong insecurity for feeling needed and loved. She has trouble saying no to the people she loves most, and as intelligent and level-headed as she is, she still harbors a fear of rejection.

Gertrude enjoys meeting new people and is excellent at small talk. Her compassion and intelligence have brought her a lot of success as an event coordinator. What also helped was her neurotic organization. Crafty with an eye for design, Trudy has a spot for absolutely everything and gets agitated when things are out of place. She is a dedicated planner with a rapidly expanding stationery collection. Whenever she can’t decide on something -- which is often, as she is indecisive to a fault -- she just goes overboard and buys everything.

Her favorite hobby is baking, which she has also incorporated into her event planning business. Every good party needs a cake, right? Or cupcakes, or cookies, or all of the above and more. Although she adheres to a strict healthy diet normally, she splurges when she’s made a particularly good pastry (which happens a lot, hence the strict diet). She also has a penchant for white wine, vintage clothing, and stationery.


History:
Gertrude Eloise Hughes looks back on her childhood fondly. She had a loving family with three brothers and a set of supportive parents. Trudy and her twin brother Adelebert, “Gertie” and “Bertie” as they were called back then (and still now by family) were very close, and Trudy enjoyed putting on shows and doing art projects with her brothers. As they grew older, her brothers became less interested in arts and crafts, but Trudy kept up the hobbies.

As the Hughes children grew older, cracks in the surface began to appear in their parents’ marriage. The things that had seemed normal as a child they now realized were actually quite odd. Soon enough, Tobias and Rhiannon confirmed their suspicions by announcing their divorce. Tobias explained that he was gay, and in time Trudy and her brothers met his partner. Her parents stayed amiable and even though life seemed to have become infinitely more complicated, Trudy accepted and worked through it quickly.  She worked with both of her parents, in the Bippity Boppity Bakery as well as with her mother planning weddings.

These creative outputs kept Gertrude feeling accomplished, but in her twenties she grew weary of working under someone who still referred to her as ‘Gertie Wertie.’ And so, Trudy opened her own business, expanding her planning repertoire to all events. People were ecstatic with her dedication to perfecting their important events, causing her small business to become one of the leading event planning companies in the Wizarding World.

Trudy Happy is an event-planning business, which means that Trudy will plan weddings, parties, reunions, concerts, balls, and even meetings. Come to Trudy with an event, any event, and she will make you happy. She takes care of everything from invitations to catering, and her aesthetic keeps the events both elegant and exciting.

Gertrude has spent all of her life designing and organizing, and so naturally she had an inclination towards public relations. Having been raised by parents who serve the community in that way, she spent years assisting them in their respective businesses. She has spent a good portion of her life keeping brides happy, which is qualification enough for any career.
