PLOT FEATURE: Mischief Unmanaged
It's all a commotion at Hogwarts! On the Saturday of the Hogsmeade weekend just before Valentines day, Saturday 12th February, 14 students were taken from Hogsmeade. Word is that one of the Honeydukes staff offering free samples in the street may have been imperioed, and the samples were portkeys. It is a random selection of students and initially there are no leads on where they have gone.
It doesn't help consciences that resident seers at Hogwarts have been plagued with dreams and visions foreshadowing the events, dismissed by the Deputy Headmaster and Headmistress, the event occurring in the Headmistress' absence.
Sunday 13th February, in the belly of the Department of Mysteries the missing students are test subjects for dark magic. At Hogwarts, aurors question witnesses for more information:
Mischief and DisasterMonday 14th February, the students wake up in the Department of Mysteries and work their way out, alerting the Ministry who rescue them into safety.
Follow Group A and
follow Group BTuesday 15th February, ten students return to Hogwarts, but the lake appears as blood...

Swap at the Top
Since our last Fortnight Flyer AO founder, Sarah (Niobe/Persepolis) has stepped down from being a curator after six years of service. We'd like to say a massive thank you to Sarah for all her work on keeping the forum going and we look forward to writing with you in years to come.

Wicked Wiki Wizardry
Cody has been hard at work again with the Absit Omen wiki. He’s a real wizard, don’tcha know. Cody keeps a fascinating log of what he’s up to, so here is a summary of what’s happened since our last Fortnight Flyer:
New Cargo ExtensionMoved the wiki away from Semantic Mediawiki to another similar type of extension called Cargo. Instead of defining properties and setting properties in templates and being limited in the way things can be searched and combined, Cargo defines database tables and then fills those and basically lets you use sql queries to query the info and the ability to easily combine tables.
The NPC and Adoption Centers have been updated to reflect this. The biggest most obvious change is the main page. Cody’s modeled it on the English wikipedia's main page. The featured characters are randomly determined and change each day.
The
Did You Know section is determined by the day of the month and repeats every month (
there are 31 DYK’s) If you have any suggestions for new Did You Know's please let Cody know (PM Kelvin Watkins).
Cody is trying to add some color in where he can, and hopefully define certain sections of the wiki with different colors. He welcomes any thoughts about the changes.
Character Status & Class PagesCody wrote
this script in December to make it easy to get a character list by membergroup to run through
Auto Wiki Browser to get most of the character pages on the wiki with the correct status. A number of character pages were tweaked to correct names and add missing characters. This has allowed Cody to switch back on the class rosters!
The infoboxes on the class pages now get their current professor and previous professors from the occupations defined on character pages. Cody plans to do similar things for other places/business/organization pages, and then perhaps something similar for school clubs and quidditch teams.
The Hogwarts Navbox now gets its Hogwarts Headmaster/Deputy Headmaster, Heads of Houses, Professors, and Staff from the current occupation set on character infoboxes.
NEW PLOT PAGESIn early January, Cody did a lot of work on our very important plot pages - converting them into a new structure that made adding and reordering events a lot more powerful, and editing the pages a lot more accessible to everyone by using forms.
This new structure allows an automatic listing of plots a character is involved in on the character page. It also allows the main page to show current plots and future plots portal by being able to pull plots with the most recent events. Articles and events are set using forms that create their own pages. This also allows one event/article to show up on multiple plot pages without entering the information twice.
Mischief Unmanaged is the first plot to move over to the new system.
New Character PortalThe new character portal has been rolled out instead of just landing on the character category. The category is still there with a link from the portal but the portal in addition to an expanded character of the day, also has a section of all active characters and a section of open use NPCs. It also has a small section of pages that need additional info in the infobox. Priority (or how they are sorted when pulled from the database) is given to active, then inactive, then NPC, and then secondaries.
Removed Discussion/TalkThe tabs to the discussion/talk pages have been hidden and the ability to edit the talk pages has been taken away from everyone since we do not use those pages.
