Olivia May FoleyI’ve got a furry little problem. I was reminded by O.W.L. question ten.
Watching the sky for the moonlight. You get too close and I might bite.
Lycanthropy is at the top of my résumé. Unless I’m howling, I never know what to say.

Physical Description: Olivia is cursed with a mane of brown hair that is messy and tangles easily. She lets her hair do what it wants and it is rarely pulled into any sort of up do, and is usually falling into her face. Her hair falls to about the middle of her back. Olivia claims hair is a very noticeable feature about her because it does appear wild most of the time, which she always finds rather fitting. She has a slender face that is rather angular with defined features. Olivia has an average sized nose with a cute round tip, it suits her and she thinks it looks cute, just like her chin which smoothly connects with the shape of her face. She has expressive light brown eyes that only confirm the expressions of emotions that appear on her face. Perhaps her most hated feature would be her ears, but then most of the time they are hidden by the mass of brown hair.
Olivia comes to a height of 5’6, and weighs just about 115 pounds. Olivia is slender and thin, with slight definition when it comes to her hips and chest. She does not have a large chest but like any girl she has a bit of something developing. Olivia wears whatever she wants when it isn’t her uniform; she has a very comfortable and grungy style. A lot of her clothing is well worn and at times torn. Olivia believes that clothing is an extension of your personality and you should where what you like. When she can wear her own clothing she prefers it, as being dressed in the school uniform is like torture to her and conformity, but doesn’t mean it can’t be cute either. Olivia's main problem with her school uniform is the skirt, it lacks the same movement ability that shorts and pants have.
Olivia has smooth skin, she does tan in the summer but she doesn’t go out of her way to tan. There at times, shortly before and after the full moon when she looks worn and run down (much like her clothes). She can have some bruising after the full moon. When it comes to make-up she limits it to a bit of eye-shadow, and lip gloss. Flavour of lip gloss is an extension of what you are feeling, in Olivia's mind, after all there is a chance someone will taste it.
Olivia hides it but she does have a few scares on her body from her contact to silver and bare skin. A few are on her feet and a couple on her legs, and one in particular on her stomach in the shape of a cross. She encountered some cruel children at the place she stayed before Emma, but she also has had a few accidents with Emma’s jewellery or her friends. Emma has since changed her type of jewellery. Additionally she has scar on her back from where she was clawed and bitten on her shoulder.
Summer of 2009 Olivia's hair is even longer and she decided to try going dirty blonde. Her mop of hair is even frizzier since dying it and there is some unfortunate root growth.
Personality Description: There is more to Olivia Foley than being a werewolf, and in her opinion there is more to being a werewolf than being depressed and angsty. Olivia, or Ollie as she is loveingly referred to as, is the perfect example of accepting and carrying on with her affliction. Ollie is a sweet young girl, that can be just as stubborn as she is sweet. Ollie happens to be confident and very self aware of who she is and what kind of person she wishes to be. Ollie wants to be a happy person, genuine, and wishes to hide the her negative emotions. Ollie knows she bottles in her negative emotions. At times Ollie lets her emotions overwhelm her, and when she does you will immediately know something is wrong. Luckily this experience is generally a one time thing, unless you are a very close friend or her mother. Ollie prefers to handle the majority of her trouble and emotions by herself, but there are times when she needs someone to confide in. Her confidant is usually her mother, Fauna Blake, or someone she feels she can trust.
Ollie has a stubborn side, which can be a little aggressive. She likes things to go her way, but sometimes that isn’t always possible, and when she looses the fight she will back away gracefully or grimace but there will be not pouting or whining. Ollie knows when she is defeated, but sometimes her stubbornness gets in the way of verbally admitting defeat until it is painfully obvious she has lost the battle. With her stubborn side comes her blunt side, Ollie is very straight-forward when she doesn’t like something. Honestly she does not mean to offend people, but it can happen due to her natural reactions to something she doesn't like. Ollie is very opinionated, and sometimes her opinions or theories are a little strange in other people's eyes. She does care about people though and if she sees you are hurt she will stop to help you out. She is willing to give everyone a chance ,as long as they deserve a second one she will give it to them.
On the flip side, Ollie is extremely loyal, she has undying loyalty to friends and especially her family. When you are a werewolf you learn to keep those who accept you as you are close, and Ollie believes they deserve extreme acts of loyalty. She is good humoured as well, and tries to have a great sense humour about the werewolf thing when people bring it up. She doesn’t think it is something that defines her, just something she is and people should accept it. Ollie doesn’t want people to think of her as the werewolf girl, she wants people to see passed it to her personality. She does adapt to the people around her, and if they judge her on the werewolf thing cause her to quiet and be self-conscious. Ollie hates it when people don't like her just because she is a werewolf, but if you have a valid reason she cannot fight that.
Ollie likes things to happen instantly, she hates the whole waiting thing as she is rather impatient. She lacks patience and can get bored easily, which would explain the heap of unfinished scarves, mittens, sweaters and anything else that can be knitted in her room. She has only finished a few and they weren’t by hand. When she gets bored with doing anything that takes time she usually finishes it by magical means (as long as she is at Hogwarts). Ollie often says once she comes of age she is going to be exceptionally lazy.
Ollie is a very curious girl as she is up for exploring, and she wants to know all of the school. She has a talent for breaking the rules due to her curious nature. Ollie is very opinionated and has theories so she does at times sound a little strange. She can appear in a bit of a dream world when she is lost in thought but can’t everyone? The fact people think she is in a bit of a dream world is not quieted by the fact she often lacks focus and can appear a bit dim and lost. Ollie gets distracted easily some could joke she gets distracted by something shiny and sometimes they can be right.
There are moments of immaturity still, but admittedly over the last year she has matured a little. Nearly killing someone has opened her eyes to the seriousness of her infliction, and she does understand why Headmistress Snark made her choice. What she doesn't understand is why she was not given an opportunity to work on safety measures to allow her to stay at Hogwarts with her friends. Ollie has matured a little, but there are lapses in this maturity when she is goofing off or handling stressful situations. Ollie wants to be a kid, and not have to be as grown up and responsible as a werewolf has to be.
History: Olivia May Thames was born December 3, 1992 on a snowy day in Scotland. Her mother was Kathleen Thames a single mother. Kathleen was a pureblood witch who had a relationship with Julian Williams a muggleborn, but as happens with young love it fades as quickly as it sparked. The end of the relationship was volatile with various arguments about pointless things. The young woman discovered she was pregnant after Julian and she had called it splits. Kathleen made the choice not to tell Julian about the pregnancy, she didn't wish him to come back just because of the baby, even if she wished him to come back. Kathleen did not wish to be one of those girls that used pregnancy to keep her man. The fact remained she doubted Julian and she would ever work it out, and ever be serious. She made the selfish choice not to tell him about his child, but rationalized it by saying that the child would be better off not jumping between homes. Truth of it, the child would have done better knowing her father. After making the choice not to tell Julian, she had to decide whether to keep the child. Kathleen made the choice to have her child, but this did prove to be more than a young woman like her could handle alone. It was a tough job raising a child by herself, but it was never a choice she regretted.
One night when Olivia was only four, an event she would not remember would chance her life. Olivia and her mother were walking through the forest to their cottage on the Thames family property. The vast Thames property in Scotland countryside had a dense forest-like area where the cabin was located, and limited charm protection beyond the actual Highland Manor on the property. Lurking in the trees on that full moon night was a werewolf, some irresponsible unregistered criminal travelling by had transformed and started hunting the two. Kathleen did everything to protect her daughter from the attacker, but everything included giving up her own life. Had Kathleen not sacrificed herself the bite from the werewolf that Olivia received would have been more than a just bite passing on a disease, but the cause for her death. Kathleen had gotten in the way stopping the attack, and she used magic to keep the beast at bay. She could not keep up the magic for long, before she was mauled. The noise and screams attracted the attention of Kathleen's parents who came running out to aid them. After the werewolf fled upon arrival of more people, Olivia's grandparents found a wounded and bleeding granddaughter, passed out beside their dead daughter.
Olivia woke screaming for her mother in St. Mungos, and one of the medi-witches tried to calm her. She barely had time to grieve before a Ministry official was there walking through the steps of registering the young werewolf. She could not even comprehend what this meant or why her mother and grandparents were not around. The reason her grandparents weren't around was simple, they did not want a werewolf in the family. They feared the young girl and did not know what to do, or how to care for her. They didn’t want her, especially since they had just lost their daughter to the attack and Olivia just reminded them of that horrific tale. Olivia's grandparents wished to forget that horrific incident, and it would be impossible with a werewolf child to look after. They left her to the ministry officials to handle, and that was that, they only hoped someone would claim her as their own.
Olivia could not comprehend how her life had changed, she didn't understand. The only thing she did know was the potion they made her drink tasted vile. The pain she felt from the wounds that were only now starting to heal was nothing she had felt before. She was lost, a four-year-old girl with nobody there for her. She would be left in the care of St. Mungo’s for a few weeks before they found a place that would take her in. She was placed in a small wizarding orphanage with the intent to find her placement in a home quickly, for the safety of the other children. Unfortunately finding a suitable home for her proved to be difficult, who wanted to take in an abandoned werewolf. Eventually they did find a lovely woman, Emma Foley a wonderful Irish woman, who was prepared to care for a werewolf. She was a thirty-year-old who had studied all sorts of magical creatures and was becoming a distinguished author of books on various types of creatures. Not only did she see the chance to study werewolves through this young girl but the chance to have a daughter. Emma Foley was unable to have children and had always considered adoption, the first time she lay eyes upon Olivia she fell in love. When all the paperwork was done Olivia was taken to their cottage in Dublin, Ireland.
Within a few years Olivia had left the sadness behind her, and just grew to accept the way she was. She was always up for the game of running away from the Wolfsbane potion; she hated the way it tasted. She was of course always found whether by force or she had given up, it was usually by force. Being an active child, she liked to play outside a lot and luckily the small bit of land Emma lived on backed onto a meadow and forest. Olivia spent many afternoon days running around. Olivia also enjoyed swimming in the river near by on hot summer days. In the cottage they made sure to have a safe room for Olivia that inspected by the Ministry whenever they felt the need to drop in. Asides from the werewolf thing she had a great childhood that was normal, or so Olivia thought. Sure Emma and Olivia didn’t exactly have a lot of money only getting money when royalties or payments came from the books Emma wrote, but Olivia never complained because she loved having Emma around all the time. Olivia and Emma had a great bond.
When Olivia turned eleven in December of 2003 Emma decided it was time to tackle Hogwarts. Of course there was always some concern she may not have been written down by the Magic Quill, but when that was confirmed Emma only wished to assure the staff that as long as Olivia could return home each full moon she would safely transform and never be a danger to the students. Emma would also make arrangements with the Ministry to have the check in date for the monthly check up to be the day before the full moon to minimize the time Olivia had to remain out of school. Ollie was accepted to Hogwarts the fall of 2004, and that December she would turn twelve. Olivia was sorted into Hufflepuff like Emma had been when she was at Hogwarts. Emma always said it was nurture not nature that shaped a person. Emma always encouraged the curious side of Olivia and her creative side, not to mention she encouraged Olivia to challenge people and stick to her guns, of course that shaped the stubborn side of Olivia.
Each month Olivia would leave school the day before the full moon to register at the Ministry and then head home to have dinner with Emma and then take part in her transformation in the safe room. Olivia would wake up in the morning and be treated a good hearty breakfast with some chocolate and sent on back to school as if nothing has happened. Olivia was always tired before and especially after the full moon but she knew life had to go on and being a werewolf was not what defined her.
Olivia made connections with people at the school and looked up to many of her housemates. Olivia was always fascinated with magic so she was very interested in listening during classes. She was extremely fascinated with History of Magic even if the class was boring, but the most interesting to her was Astronomy the stars were beautiful. Olivia wasn’t the best student in class, forgetting to do homework or taking longer to learn spells. Olivia was not afraid to try but she got bored or distracted easily.
Olivia has made some great friends over the years and those are the people she counts on the most. She lets those closest to her know about her being a werewolf but she prefers to keep it a secret. Ollie knows that it could get out at any moment but she tries not to let that bother her.
Olivia was looking forward to her fifth year at Hogwarts, but it never did arrive. She unfortunately would not attend Hogwarts that year after being expelled for being a werewolf. With Knox Greyfrair no longer being Headmaster of the school, it meant that Emma Foley would have to write to the new Headmistress explaining the situation. The discussions were short and Olivia was expelled from Hogwarts. She was set up with tutors and would be home-schooled for her fifth year of education. This would prove to be beneficial in the end results of her grades, but she did miss Hogwarts. Some would argue it was a good thing she was not there, because during the March full moon and accident happen. Tainted wolfbane meant the effects of the potion were not there and she lost herself to the beast. Being in the wrong place, at the wrong time, Sasha was attacked a fellow student in Diagon Alley. Olivia ran away from home after, disappointed in what she had done. She decided to show up on Knox's front door, the only perosn she felt she could count on. She lived with him for a couple weeks before returning home, expecting her mother to be disappointed. Her mother was not disappointed but relieved she was okay. Olivia is now currently waiting to hear if she can return to Hogwarts for her sixth year having sat her appropriate exams.
Wand: Rosewood makes up the wand but it is not smooth actually a bit bent and curved, the wand itself is a bit rough to the touch as well but the handle is smooth with five years of wear. Olivia’s wand has a dragon-heartstring core, and is approximately 9 ½ inches in length. Her wand has a tendency of being a bit temperamental and wild, if she struggles while learning a spell it is because her wand is being moody or so she likes to blame it.
How Do You Fit Into Your House?: ] Olivia is a strong person and she is brave so you might thing she is suited for Gryffindor, but the traits of her loyalty and wiliness to be just has out weighted. She was seen with these traits by the hat when she first stepped foot into Hogwarts, the bravery is something she has developed. She is friendly and kind, and fits comfortably in Hufflepuff.
Writing Sample:It seemed like days ago that she had said goodbye to her friends at school, but in fact it had only been an hour or so. She had used the floo network as always to get home from Hogwarts so that she could transform in the safety of her home and for the safety of others. Ollie had accepted this ritual along time ago as she knew no different and she really didn’t remember life before it.
Ollie sat at the table pushing her meal around the plate. “I don’t want to eat this,” she said looking at it with disgust. Emma told her to eat it would make taking the potion better and Ollie just nodded her head and shoveled and few mouthfuls in. “It is gross mom I don’t want it I am not hungry,” she grumbled pushing the plate away. Emma told her not to act like that. Ollie knew she shouldn’t but she was just grumpy because the full moon.
Emma handed over a glass of Wolfsbane potion and Ollie shook her head before taking it in her hands and swallowing it. “Gross,” she whined as she stood up and went to hug Emma. “See you in the morning.” Ollie peeked out the curtain as she saw the setting sun and went to the attic and into her safe room. Ollie found a comfortable bit of floor and lay staring at the ceiling.
Soon the moon would come out and she would change, but no sooner had that happened she would be back to herself in the morning. She knew it felt like forever but really in respects to her entire length of life it was not long, she could pretend she was sleeping or something of the like.
Ollie lay there on the ground her feet bopping to the beat that was rolling about in her mind. She was just thinking and keeping herself busy until the time would come, it was just a waiting game now. Ollie started to hum a little tune to herself as her feet groove to the new sound gracing the room. She sat up as she started taking off her shoes and removing her sweater. As much as she liked the clothing she knew it would be ruined, but it kept her sane thinking she could save it. Anything to keep her mind off the time that was slowing to a snails pace.
As she went back to lying down on the ground with her hands clasped behind her head; she started thinking about her essay she had to write for school and smirked as she started to plot out the idea for it. She knew it wasn’t due for a while but what else was there to think about? The waiting game was going by a bit faster than before, thank you homework, alright so she never thought she would think that.
Sum up your character in one paragraph: Olivia is a werewolf but that is not all that defines her. She is a stubborn girl who has a tendency to tell you if she likes something or not and being very straightforward about it. She can be a bit simple or unfocused but she is loyal and sweet. She is easily distracted and bored. A little immature but she is growing up and she has lots of time to do it.
