Wand: 11 inches, Larch wood, and unicorn hair core.  The handle is smooth and plain with a slightly crooked shaft.  There is nothing remarkable about it, and Dosia thinks it matches her for the most part: practical, sensible, and plain.

    Physical Description:
If one was being kind, they might describe Dosia as pixie-esque.  If one were being cruel, the term goblin might come up.  Theodosia is small.  She thought she would squeak by and hit that five foot mark, but it just… it never happened.  Standing at a full four feet and eleven inches, Dosia has always just had to deal with standing behind tall people, never being able to reach things on the highest shelf (or the middle shelf for that matter), and perpetually being used as an arm rest.   There is only one arena that being so small has ever been an advantage: dance.

While her sister is the actress of the family, Dosia always loved to dance.  It was a childhood pastime, along with her primary education.  She always liked the idea of studying dance magic, but she never had the… flair for it.  It involved a lot of feeling – not so much the precision piece, which was what she really liked about dance.  It was exacting, involved routine and training.  Dosia still dances, when she finds the time, but only recreationally – and it does maintain strong legs and a fit core.  She is not as interested in physical training as her sister, so the little bit she gets from dancing is enough for her.

It is hard to find clothes that don’t make her look like an overgrown toddler, so Dosia prefers to dress cleanly and simply.  If it makes her even almost look her age she is happy about it.  Often, she just looks like an overachieving twelve year old.  At least until she opens her mouth (but that’s for later).

As far as facial features go, she has a round face with large, hazel eyes, which are often seen rolling for a variety of reasons.  She has a pinched nose, but surprisingly full lips (some genetics worked out for her), and thick eyebrows.  Complexion wise, Dosia has olive skin and though her hair is naturally very dark, she often lightens it – again, wishful thinking that it makes her look like an adult.

    Personality Description:
Dosia likes to think she is just like her wand: unassuming, regular, and otherwise ordinary.  She is practical and efficient – not drawn to frills or fancy things, she just wants everything in order and to run smoothly.  She is highly regimented and likes routine.  It’s no surprise that although her sister is older than her, over time she has eclipsed her in the more mundane things and became a more functioning adult, even if she is far less exciting.  Being the backstage is much easier for Dosia, so she is more than happy to support Tine on her ventures.  Unfortunately, being tied to her older sister means her desire for order and regularity are constantly interrupted.

It probably doesn’t help alleviate her grumpy personality.  Dosia has a tendency to be sarcastic and short with people.  It comes from the spirit of wanting to get things done right the first time.  She doesn’t really have time for people to mess up because that means hell for her and a lot of things she has to hear that no one else does.  Dosia is endlessly loyal to her sister, but that doesn’t mean she is always the most tolerant to her antics.  Her eyes must be the strongest ones in the world because she is constantly rolling them.  Someone, once upon a time, might have suggested that she keep rolling her eyes in hopes of finding a brain back there someday… if it wasn’t for the fact that Dosia obviously does have a brain.

She’s a smart cookie, but it is often limiting.  She sees things as very finite.  It’s either working or it isn’t.   Thankfully though, this keeps her pretty consistent and very predictable.  It is the complete opposite to her older sister who tends to be unpredictable, moody, and prone to bouts of anxiety that has put her behind a closed and locked door one too many times.   Thankfully, Dosia knows her sister better than anyone and tends to be a good influence – or at least the influence that keeps her alive and functioning.

Dosia has a head for remembering things and keeping track: like appointments, dates, events… the people to reach out to, the ridiculous rider that goes with her sister wherever she is currently working.  She is also a very capable water boiler, but an even more capable take in order’er.   She is also exceedingly patient as she can deal with Augustine rolling in at whatever time she feels like, bursting into her room, and making requests at any hour.  Tine’s ideas are always brilliant to her, even if they happen at 3 AM, and Dosia just… grins and bears it.  For family, right?

    History:
Being the younger sister was only a circumstance of birth, as this story would lend itself anyway.

Theodosia Alice Fortescue would never have imagined when she was a little girl looking up to her big sister (literally and figuratively) that she would be the one making sure her sister was okay and guiding her through things… but that’s for later!  At the beginning, Dosia was constantly tagging along with her sister.  They would play together – well, mostly Dosia would sit and listen while Tine did whatever it was she was doing – singing, reading… even playing professor.  Whatever it was, the even-tempered, younger sister would dutifully follow along.

That ebbed with age (just slightly) because their passions took different turns.  While Tine enjoyed being on stage and having her voice heard, Dosia was much quieter.  She liked things that had rules and made sense, so she naturally gravitated toward dance over acting.  Being enrolled in dance (particularly ballet) gave her a sense of responsibility and routine – two things that Dosia craves even now as an “adult.”  She never wanted to do that as passionately as Tine wanted to act, but it was something she enjoyed and she practiced pretty much every day.

When she went to Hogwarts that sort of… curbed some of the dance enthusiasm that she had.  She read about dance magic, but it was emotional – it was fluid and though it required movement, it didn’t seem to suit her the way that ballet did.  It became a non-option the more she read about it.  So, she didn’t really like anything in particular.  But, she was organized, disciplined, and loved knowing when she was going to do things and how she was going to get them done so despite the passion and zest for learning that others had, she was a decently good student and never had trouble keeping up because it just wasn’t her nature.

Unfortunately, despite her ability to manage her time… Dosia just didn’t have a passion!  She was okay at a lot of things but not great at anything… and moving beyond that, she didn’t even have her sister around to talk to about it – sure they had the mirrors, but even then it wasn’t like Tine understood!  She had known what she wanted to do forever.  Dosia couldn’t figure out what socks she wanted to wear with tomorrow’s jumper, let alone her career.  She sort of just… enjoyed herself  and hoped it would come to her sooner or later… or at least she thought that!

Graduation rolled around much faster than she thought.  Still no big dreams, no direction!  It was horrible.  So, the grumpy gus happened to fall into something she never would have expected: being her sister’s keeper… er personal manager.  It worked out, actually, since Augustine had been climbing the ladder of success and needed someone who could update her schedule and keep everything under control when she was in whatever whirlwind she felt like being in.  Plus, it was a place to live that wasn’t with their parents, so that was nice.  Not that Dosia has a lack of love for them, but after graduating it was nice to have an option.

So, she supports her sister’s career, makes sure she doesn’t make any crushing mistakes (kind of hard, to be honest), and hopes that in the long run she ends up finding out what she’s good – other than scheduling and demanding extra towels or a memory charmed padded bed for Tine’s animal menagerie - at as well.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:
There are so many things that could go here.  The official list is fairly short.  She is in charge of scheduling meetings, interviews, appearances, and managing Tine’s professional life.  She communicates with people when Tine can’t (or won’t) and sees to it that all of her requests are met before Tine can even know.  She also cleans up messes that Augustine makes in public and gets here where she needs to be.  Alright, maybe that’s not a short list but it is infinitely shorter than the unofficial duties she has picked up by virtue of being her boss’ sister… and living with her.

Dosia is generally in charge of taking care of their flat, equipping them with food and necessities, as well as helping her sister through any and all of the ups and downs that her job puts her through.  Dosia is the organized one that keeps everything together (or at least tries).   She keeps notes for her sister, makes sure she is up to date on everything she needs, and generally lives to make sure her sister doesn’t die.  It wasn’t exactly what she expected after graduating, but she supposes she doesn’t know what else she would have expected.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field:
Dosia has always been organized and on top of things.  In school though she was never a stellar student, she was always on time and reliable.  She certainly had the sense to keep her agenda updated and always hand in her parchments and assignments on time.  So, she is perfectly capable of handling her sister’s schedule and demands.

Having been her sister’s sister for the past 18 years now, she is also used to the nuances of her sister’s personality and where others have failed to really… live up to what Tine expects in a manager.  She is always available because she can’t say no (and they live together).  She humors her sister in pretty much everything even if she’s using a fake smile to do it.  Dosia knows her sister’s moods and how to navigate them, she knows what her sister likes and doesn’t like, it just works.  Plus, Dosia doesn’t really know what else she would do… so this is as good of a gig as she is going to pull in now.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Theodosia Foretescue is a tiny ball of grumpy.  Standing less than five feet tall means you have to demand attention in other ways, and as the manager of Augusting, she certainly needs to do that.  She also needs to be organized, punctual, and have a lot of grit to do what she does.  It might not be a forever job (though she doesn't even know if she wants one of those!), but it certainly gives her a place to live, a lot to do, and keeps her sister alive: so it’s not that bad.
