Wand: Almond wood with unicorn hair core.  Like its owner, it is slim and slight--at just under nine inches.  It is pleasantly supple and bendy, with a  shaft so delicately spiraled it greatly resembles a unicorn horn.

    Physical Description:
With a slight and elegant figure, broad cheekbones, and dark, almond-shaped eyes, Amaryllis does credit to Woolfolk reputation for  producing natural beauties.  She bears a striking resemblance to her elder sister, Primrose, and especially at a young age was measured against her in most regards: blonde hair, square jaw, high cheekbones...

Mercifully, Amaryllis dodged the fate of the Flint teeth.  Amaryllis has had good fortune in looks:  Maree has a particularly slim waist and dresses to accentuate it.  She has naturally rosy cheeks and rose-petal lips that need no additional color.  No spots as a youth, no freckles, no crooked teeth--nothing at all remarkable that would require working around.  Which was merciful as well, because Amaryllis would not have bothered to work around it.  While not vain, Maree is aware of her good fortune in this regard.  She does not fuss over looks because she does not have to.

As she's grown older, she has learned the art of dressing well and dressing to attract and is constantly taking note of the compliments she receives, taking measures to repeat successes.  As such, her wardrobe can sometimes be uninventive.  Having found that something works well, she will do it again and again.  For instance, she has recently found that women tend to like her hair long and parted in the middle, while the men have preferred the gentle, side-swept waves.  She alternates between these styles, depending.  She enjoys wearing pencil skirts to work, which accentuates her small waist and while she does not like the discomfort of heels, has learned enough from her sisters the delight in owning gorgeous things that she does rotate between various pairs. Maree prefers soft colors, though will occasionally pull a bold lip like her older sister--mostly because her youngest sister called her "ravishing."

    Personality Description:
Amaryllis is excessively pleasant.  Always smiling, quite sensitive and compassionate, and devoted to improving herself, she often fades into the background when in the company of her vibrant sisters--younger or older.  However, there is a resoluteness and deliberateness in her actions.  The causes she is dedicated to may vary or change--tutoring a struggling student, befriending a new neighbor, or tackling a challenge at work--but are always met with the same level-headed passion that is characteristic of the Woolfolks.

While certainly quieter than her sisters, she has a vibrant smile and an upbeat attitude that she readily shares with others and which, if she does it right, can be quite contagious.  Optimistic, if not a little listless, she easily can align with others--becoming a fast friend to many, but perhaps being so easygoing, is capable of fading into the background a bit too quickly. A follower, rather than a leader, Amaryllis does not make plans--and very much hopes to be invited, to be asked out, to be dear friends, to be promoted--without always taking the necessary efforts to achieve these things.  Life is gradually and, at the moment, gently teaching her to do hard things, to be not only resilient but to prevail.

    History:
Amaryllis was born as the second daughter to a family who, by her reckoning, she was fortunate to be a part of.  They were well-off, pureblooded, and she had two loving parents who loved each other, and three sisters; Maree has the blessing to be both a younger and an older sister, both looking up to and serving as an example.

As children, the two Woolfolk girls  grew close--particularly as Amaryllis became Prim's willing and merry accomplice in whatever activity of the day pleased her elder sister.  There were great differences between the sisters, despite their looks.  Prim was bold and daring, while Amaryllis was soft and sweet.  Prim rode horses and Maree danced.  Still, the sisters were often spoken of collectively.

Things were much quieter when her sister turned 11 and left for Hogwarts.  At only 8, she was left with her toddler sister, Hattie, who she learned to dote on--and who perhaps liked the doting a bit too much.  By the time Maree was ten, she had two sisters to love--and it was hard for Amaryllis to leave for Hogwarts, feeling very distant from her parents and two little loves, but excited for the opportunity to see her elder sister.

To her dismay, she was not sorted into her sister's house, Gryffindor.  She was sorted into Ravenclaw.  It could have been worse.  It could have been Hufflepuff..

Amaryllis was fueled by a desire to please, and please she did.  Dedicating herself to her studies, she excelled, winning the general approbation of her professors and easily gaining herself a position as Ravenclaw prefect by the time she reached her fifth year.  Even despite the great upsets during the Second Wizarding War, she was generally quiet enough, well-behaved enough, and obedient enough--even when she didn't like it--to not attract much notice.

Her natural agility transferred quite easily from dance to Quidditch as a chaser.  Even her desire to be pleasing to her fellow housemates meant that she was constantly tutoring the younger students, helping her classmates by sharing notes and using a diplomatic use of her prefect's badge by strategically casting a blind eye every now and again.

She did not date much, being overly dedicated to her studies and extracurriculars, which also gained her the general approval of her female classmates--even if it did not exactly make her popular with the boys, many of whom came to see her as miserably shy or worse still, aloof.  By the time she graduated, she had only had two minor flirtations and one boyfriend for a grand total of two months.

This trend continued, for Amaryllis was quickly, with a little assistance from her father, found a placed at the Ministry as an Obliviator.  It was not a natural profession for Amaryllis, who was having some difficulty choosing a career.  Her focus on excelling at everything to please everyone had left her little opportunity to determine what was most important to her.  To this day, Amaryllis is still unsure of her ultimate plan, but enjoys her co-workers and the work itself well enough.  She does, however, feel that her siblings, with their typical Woolfolk ambition and enthusiasm, would not have so much difficulty knowing which course to take.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:
As an Obliviator for the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, Amaryllis is responsible for ensuring that Muggles remain unawares of the existence, comings, and goings of the Wizarding World.  Often, this requires her to show up at the site of catastrophes to eliminate memories on the spot, although she has on several occasions been tasked with tracking down Muggles with compromising memories for Obliviating after-the-fact, if they managed to slip away.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field:
By and large, Amaryllis' best subject was charms, and the work itself comes easily enough.  Amaryllis would like to think that it is her strong sense of intuition and empathy that allow her to connect with the memories of those she must Obliviate.  She prefers to alter memories rather than erase--transforming horrific magical catastrophes into commonplace things like car crashes, or random bursts of magic to unremarkable occurrences.

Always her goal is to leave no lasting effect on the individual and, if possible--and not likely to get her into trouble with her job--make the whole event more pleasant than it otherwise could have been.

She firmly believes in the necessity of the Statute of Secrecy--in large part because this is what she was taught, but also because she does not see the great harm in maintaining it.  She is dedicated to protecting her world, but also believes that her Obliviations protect the Muggles around her, as well, and that they are better off not knowing of the dangerous possibilities around them.

    Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Excessively amiable and undeniably pleasant, Amaryllis does her best to do her best--trying to be a good sister, daughter, and employee.  She is dedicated, loving, and, to her own detriment, always trying to please others.  Amaryllis is beginning to realize that this desire to please has kept her from her own personal development and is looking keenly at the examples of those she loves and admires to forge herself a new, resolute persona.
