Nikolas Portokalos was swiftly captured and arrested after an attempt to smuggle and trade chimera eggs. Three of the eggs hatched, and the chimera hatchlings proceeded to terrorize the muggles of Birmingham early Christmas Eve. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, and the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures worked together to contain the disaster before it could become cataclysmic.

"Following a rapid cross-departmental operation, we are pleased to confirm all 3 chimeras were contained. Beast Division are pursuing charges with our full support. Obliviators and the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee carefully accounted for the unusual deaths of twenty-six Muggle domestic pets." Informed Edwin Glass, carefully diplomatic as ever in his egg-headed glory.

Such a heavy breach of the statute of secrecy is surely being dealt with, thanks to Edwin Glass' careful, strong, majestic leadership. Obliviators and the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee are likely still handling the fallout of muggle exposure to magical creatures. Muggles are likely mourning their lost pets, but at least the chimeras enjoyed their fuzzy Christmas feast.

It seems that recent catastrophes have taught the different departments how to handle problems with efficiency and grace.
