Handwritten in deep blue ink, arrives via Layton, a letter and a very neat parcel that is fairly weighty.

Enclosed are a set of granite chips, each labelled with a tag of the name, and accompanying notes. There are also details on locations, pricing, shipping etc. which goes into some detail. Everything for someone to order.




Angola, Blues in the Night
Medium grained, dark blue-black pearl anorthosite. Best gloss finished.





Brazil, Verde Peacock
Coarse-grained, grey-green charnockite. Best gloss finished. Quarried at Espirito Santo.





Canada, Cambrian Black
Medium-grained, black gabbro of Precambrian period. Best gloss polished. Quarried at Saint Nazaire, Quebec.





China, Shanxi Black
Fine-grained, intensive black gabbro. Variations: First Choice Shanxi Black granite has no gold spots or veins. Best gloss polished. Quarried near Beiyve Shanxi, though due to harsh winter conditions stock would need to be selected from pre-cut stone.





Finland, Spectrolite
Very coarse-grained, non-foliated, dark blue-black anorthosite of the Precambrian period. Individual sparkling spectrolite crystas ranging from 5 to 50mm in size. Best gloss polished. Quarried at Nuijama, Ylaemaa near the Russian border.





India, Absolute Black
Premium, very dark black, fine to close-grained black basalt (dolerite) with equi-granular crystalline texture. Best gloss polished. Quarried from Wrrangal, Andhra Padesh.





South Africa, Belfast Black
Fine-grained, black gabbro/norite of the precambrian period. Best gloss polished. Quarried near Wapadskloof, Belfast, Mpumalanga.





Ukraine, Lundhs Aurora Blue
Coarse-grained, black-blue anorthosite with a dense concentration of medium to large blue crystals. Best gloss polished. Only one quarry in the Ukraine.





Zimbabwe, Stargate
Black gabbro usually with silver flecks. Best gloss polished.
