Wand: Apple Wood, Unicorn Hair core, Supple and Knobby, 8 1/2 inches. The handle bears slight smudges from where she's held it gently yet comfortably over the years.
Physical Description: Elliot is very much average in appearance. She has beige colored skin, and stands at 5'6'', though she seems a tad shorter due to her size and shape, weighing in at just over 160 lbs. She has the typical hourglass figure, but it's not very distinct. It's more of a gentle curve from bust to waist to hips. Combine this with her found face, her slightly heavier frame and overall shape gives her a huggable appearance, making her look more cute than sexy.
She has light chocolate brown hair that she wears pulled back in ponytails. Her hair has a slight wave to it and hangs to her just below her collarbone when she leaves it down. Her hair is also fairly thick, so ponytails tend to be fluffy. And her olive green eyes are always found behind a pair of thinly rimmed, rectangular shaped eyeglasses that rarely come off during the day.
Her sense of fashion seems to pull more towards Muggle than magical, keeping herself casual in their sense in her daily wardrobe. Mostly this includes, jeans, sneakers or boots, a long sleeved shirt and either a robe or faux-leather jacket, depending on her mood for the day. She doesn't use many accessories save for the occasional ring around her middle finger and/or thumb. She keeps to neutral or darker tones in the color scheme for her outfits.
Personality Description: Elliot is a level-headed women, as well as having a friendly and warm disposition. It's not too hard for her to make friends with people around her, given her gentle personality. However, because of mistakes she's made in the past years, she's become cautious and hesitant to start up another relationship with someone, fearing that she'll get carried away again and just end up alone like before. Thus, she has mild emotional insecurity but is trying to feel more confident in herself that she's actually worth someone's time.
Given the right incentive, Elliot can be a tad spontaneous and just throw herself into moments of fun, though this doesn't happen as much as it used to. After the abrupt end to her relationship with Raddstone Elliot has become more responsible. Also, don't expect her to drink if hanging with her in a bar or pub, she won't.
Elliot prefers to not see people fighting, and may try to get in the middle to break it up, even if it were better she stay out of it. This determination continues, especially if she has friends or close ones to protect from possible danger, being the first to throw herself in the front and ensure that they stay safe, even if at her expense. And should she get worked up expect yelling, glaring, and large, rigid gestures that can cause some people to back off; she is also much more likely to pull out her wand and do something rash/stupid.
History: Childhood - Elliot grew up as a fairly normal child as one could having magical blood. She attended normal schools for Muggle children, all the while her parents kept alive in her mind the truthfulness to magic and all related to it, which thoroughly thrilled the child. (What little girl wouldn't want to learn that unicorns are real?) From her mother's side Elliot kept in touch with the Muggle world, while from her father's side she was kept aware of her inherent magical talents, and Macbeth (Mac) was more than happy to use small spells here and there in their daily life to have magic become commonplace in her life. When she was old enough, she received her acceptance letter into the Salem Institute, and eventually went off.
Youth/Adolescence (1993 - 1999) - These years were some of the best years of her life...so far. Completely animated through nearly her entire schooling Elliot embraced everything that was given her to learn, though she showed particular talent in Charms and had a love for all things history. Thus, when came the OWLs and NEWTs, she scored Os in those particular classes, and scoring well or decently in all other classes. Elliot made her parents proud when she graduated from the Institute, now so full of hopes and opportunities.
During this period, Elliot's parents had another child to help with the empty-nester feeling in their home. Another little girl--Meta Hazel Blair.
Young Adulthood (2000 - 2007) - Wanting to continue with her proficiency with charms and magical history, Elliot applied for and was accepted into the Laevenstrome's. She was sorted into the Eruditen House, and it was while there at Laevenstrome's that she got herself prepared, trained, and registered as an Animagus, choosing the raven. She kept with her studies, studying further into magical history and famous historical persons of the wizarding world.
But then Life happened.
During a winter holiday towards the end of Elliot's studies (late 2006) she met a charming and exciting young man, Thomas Raddstone - English wizard passing through just to see the sites of all things magical and Muggle. The interest was mutual and the two hit it off. Although, Thomas's rather spontaneous personality clashed a bit with Elliot's more grounded one, but his enthusiasm and charm would win over the young woman's good sense. This kept causing trouble between herself and her family, and eventually she couldn't take the critisism. Combined with Raddstone's yearning to return to his homeland the two hopped the pond and settled in a small flat. The relationship was reckless and carpe-diem for the most part for the following months.
But, one day, Elliot awakens to Tom simply gone. Though some things remained in their flat, it looked like he had taken only what was essential. It was as if he had to be somewhere in the middle of the night and just took off. Elliot waited for him for a few days, then a few weeks. Eventually she had to try to come to terms with the idea that he had simply dumped her. "We" having turned into "Me" Elliot figured she may as well stick around and try to go on with her life.
At Present (early 2007 - ) - It's been three years since Elliot ran off to England with Raddstone, and a little over two since he disappeared on her. She's in the same flat, and manages for herself by keeping a job at Flourish and Blotts in Diagon Alley. Her social circle and social interaction is limited, since she's been learning on how to get by nearly completely on her own. She still has the occasional correspondence with her family, though it's not nearly as frequent as it could--and possibly should--be.
Elliot, unfortunately, was a victim in the November 5th explosion at the Leaky Cauldron suffering slight burns to her arms, as well as numerous cuts to her hands, forearms, and face. The cuts are healing fine, but the burns are on the slower side of recovery. She's still trying to get over the effects of the explosion (both physical and psychological) which isn't helping her already lowered sense of security. She tends to avoid passing near the Leaky Cauldron now.
Describe your job duties and how you go about them: As manager of Flourish and Blotts in Diagon Alley it is her duty to make sure that the store stays in a presentable condition to all customers, as well as seeing to the paperwork of purchases so that all stays in order. She is also to one to greet you as you enter the shop, ready to help you find that particular book or two. If she's not found at the front of the shop, she'll most likely be behind the desk further back.
Elaborate on your expertise in your field: Her magical histories studies at Laevenstrome's had made her a frequent visitor, if not occasional overnight guest, of their library as she read, researched, and wrote. As such she is familiar with books and how to properly search for, and tend to, them. Her warm disposition is also a huge help in helping customers feel welcome and wanted within.
Writing Sample: More dust scattered into the air as Elliot turned the page of the old time, soon feeling that burning sensation in her nose--the ever dreaded sneeze. Just before it came she pulled her hands away from the book and managed to contain the reaction, leaving the book floating gently in the air.
"Blech," she muttered as she always did after sneezing. She was grateful she had cast that Float Charm on the book when she did. After having switched various times between holding it in one arm, then the other, or both, she'd grown tired of the weight and so left it floating at chest level in front of her. She was about to continue in her reading when the old bell above the front door rang out and a customer walked in. Elliot turned and went down the stairs, leaving her tome floating there in front of the shelf where she had removed it.
"Welcome to Flourish and Blotts. Is there a particular book you're looking for?" she asked with her usual half-smile, the left side of her mouth rising up.
"Yes, I'm looking one that has a healthy dose of action and mystery. I'm getting it for my brother, you see," replied the woman.
"Of course." Elliot's half smile remained as it was while her tone of voice showed the greater enthusiasm that her face could not. She gestured towards another part of the shop, still on the main floor, yet further off to the side. "This way you'll find our selection of such genres. It seems some of our authors are getting inspired by similar Muggle books..."
Sum up your character in one paragraph: Elliot is a cute, fairly unimpressive woman in terms of appearance, but will still win you over with her warm personality and gentleness. She proves herself to be a good friend, though withdraws herself should someone approach her seeking for something more.
