[Nov 17] Memories of a Zen Master [PM]

It was either a great time to travel, or a terrible one. There was always a risk when crossing vast expanses of land, but after the attack on the Leaky Cauldron, tensions were high in the wizarding community. Any outsiders were questionable; this was a common response to terrorism. It was a sociological move seen throughout history, even among wizards and witches. They were not so different from muggles -- there were so many things that bound them together.

For Edolie Fern, any opportunity to travel was a good one. She had that itch in her, the wanderlust that her parents had passed onto her. The work expedition to Eastern Asia was a welcome adventure in her mind. She had been processing and analyzing the artifacts that had led them to discover Zenzhou Puhua’s shakuhachi, the flute he had carved the location of his Pensieve.

Always rumored to have been mythical, Edie had pored through the research the Museum had on the man once they had received the flute. Perhaps she felt the community could take a lesson from the zen master, but Edolie felt like further research into this area was of great import. (Or… maybe she just wanted to take a trip to Japan.)

Either way she found herself among stacks of the Komuso monks’ books, tablets, and other writings. Of course there was a profusion of information about the historical eccentric. It was unlikely that much of his Pensieve was left; Puhua had existed hundreds of years ago, and Edie couldn’t expect much. But, there was that spark of possibility that kept her curious.

Of course, she was not alone. She lifted her head from the book she was perusing and announced “I think we need to go to Japan.” She looked over at her research partner. “Don’t you?”
