Help us pay for hosting costs

Every couple years or so, we offer the Absit Omen community the opportunity to contribute financially to AO's upkeep costs, and it's that time again. We have been working with TSO Host since 2013 which has been a major improvement in both uptime and support when compared to our last few years with Bluehost.  We pay £49.99 (about $76 USD) annually for their Pro hosting, and pay £12.57 ($20 USD) annually for domain registration.

Last time we did a fundraiser, we raised more than we needed, so we're applying that to this year's cost.

So we're looking to raise about £30.00 (about $45) which will last us for the year.

As always, donating to Absit Omen is entirely optional!  We do not expect anyone to give money, and no one should feel pressured to donate.  Giving does not incur any special privileges, and donations will stay anonymous.  This is simply a chance for members to contribute if they would like to.  The best contributions are those you each make every day by writing posts, going plot crazy, making friends in the cBox, and Tumbling, Tweeting, and Polyvoring.

FAQ

How do I donate?
There is a Paypal button on the homepage. They may require you to register a Paypal account. If this isn't an option available to you, we can work something else out.

How much should I donate?
Every donation no matter how much is well appreciated! Typically people pitch in about $5 which covers our costs quickly.

Who controls the money?
Curator Sarah manages the Paypal account.  The money stays in the Paypal account and is not kept in a bank. When the time comes to pay the bill, we have TSO take it directly out of the Paypal account.  If you ever have any questions or concerns about how money is handled, let a Curator know.

What are donations used for?
Only the costs required to keep AO online and accessible. This includes the cBox pro plan, hosting with TSO Host, domain registration, and, last year, an infinite licence and 1 year of support for a mobile theme.

Do I have to provide my full name and address?
Yes. To send money with Paypal, they require you to use your full name and contact information. Your full name and address are visible to Sarah, who promises to keep your information private.

What if I'm under 18?
Or whatever the legal age is in your country? Please ask your parent or guardian before donating. If they want to contact Sarah, let her know.

What happens we meet the fundraising goal?
When we notice we've met the goal, we'll remove the Paypal button and call it good.  Any extra funds stay in the account for future costs or improvements.

We want to reiterate that it's totally okay not to donate. Please don't feel guilty if a gift of money is not how you prefer to contribute, or you're not able to right now.  We never have any trouble getting the bill paid.
