    Physical Description:
As a fifteen-year-old girl, Lydie's looks are constantly changing. She very quickly went from being a rail-thin peanut with a mop of black hair to having curves she didn't (and really, still doesn't) know what to do with. This is enhanced by the ultra-trendy (but rather childish) clothes that she wears.  She prefers bright colors and patterns in the styles that everyone else is wearing, whatever that may be.

Lydie's big brown eyes are usually peeking around corner and she moves quickly and quietly. The word 'graceful' does not suit her, though; she prefers the description 'stealthy.' When she's not trying to uncover the next bombshell, Lydie is an excitable and peppy girl. It's easy to read her emotions in the big orbs she calls eyes, but she has also spent a long time working up a poker face good enough to lie with. While she might not look like much trouble, Lydie absolutely has the potential to be -- and she has the skills to manipulate her features, making her look too innocent to have committed any wrongs.

In general, Lydie can be seen with a big smile on her face. Like secrets trying to squeeze themselves into Lydie's brain, her teeth are crowded into her mouth. Her lips are always glossy, as Lydie has a strong dedication to using lip gloss. When it comes to makeup, Lydie loves to experiment... but she's still young, so occasionally her 'experiments' end up making her look rather scary.

    Personality Description:
With Lydie, what you see is what you get. And what you see is a curvy, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed girls in ultra-trendy clothes, probably with her ears perked to listen in on someone's conversation. Lydie loves to be the center of attention and the life of the party, never afraid to talk to a single person in the room. Her strong opinions lead her to speak her mind, whatever the circumstances or consequences.

Fifteen is a rough age for any human, but for a young half-Indian, half-French Brit, Lydie's struggle to 'fit in with the crowd' is real. Luckily, that passion to connect with others paired her with some very thick skin. She never lets anyone get away with nasty or derogatory statements -- she can stand up for herself and she will do it, thank you very much.

Of course Jai would say that she is very annoying, and at this age there is no denying that she comes across as such. There is a pushy, whiny side to her that is so unrelenting it is impossible to work with. She knows what she wants and there are certain things she just can't have -- and that concept remains beyond her understanding.

As loud as she can be, Lydie can be astoundingly quiet and sneaky. She likes to have the scoop and be in on everyone's business. It's mainly so that she can help them, but also to supplement her own boring life. The sad, true reality is that Lydie Patil has never been kissed, despite doing her best to grow up as fast as possible. At heart, Lydie is still just a kid who hasn't even begun to understand what "adulthood" means.

    History:
Lydie was born into a family that already had a bumbling baby boy who proudly welcomed her into the world. From a young age, Lydie had always been mesmerized by how smart her big brother was and how much he could teach her about the world. He hasn't ever stopped being older and wiser.

Lydie was just starting to figure out her place in the Patil household (to draw endless pictures of flowers for mom, play with dolls, and dump glitter on any surface she could manage) when her parents brought home another baby. Lydie was instantly apprehensive, but watched Jai's pride and protectiveness return and reluctantly (and very slowly) came around to the new kid. Fae, her name was.

As the three Patil children aged, Lydie took on the role of being the bossy sibling who took care of the others. With Jai being so sensitive, whenever he grew sad or upset, which he did very often -- or when he had one of his fits, where he rearranged the whole house maniacally -- she always did her best to cheer him up. Whether this was through song and dance or by doing the scary thing first, Lydie did what she could to ease her big brother's worries.

When Fae was five years old, and Jai was off at his first year at Hogwarts, she was attacked by a werewolf and Lydie felt the least brave she ever had. For the first time since she was a baby, she really wished she had her big brother to hold her and tell her everything was going to be okay. There was a while where things were so uncertain, and of course nobody was telling important information to single-digit Lydie.

Things went positively, as a young and optimistic Lydie always believed that they would. In her naivety she was assured that nothing bad could possibly happen to cute little Fae. Impossible!

Soon enough, it was Lydie's time to join her brother at Hogwarts. She was nervous and excited, but mostly happy to have so many new people to meet and talk to. She wanted to hear all about everyone and about how their lives had been. There were people from all kinds of different places! Her placement into Gryffindor bubbled her over with excitement. This felt like the opportunity for her to gain independence and grow. She was separating from her family, even with Jai in the same school.

With new expectations separate from Jai's, Lydie's personality grew, as did her social network. Of course her grades were hardly  what they should have been, but she would rather have the whole Hogwarts 'experience' rather than learn a bunch of academic stuff.

Lydie's goal remains to be having fun and getting the most out of her time at Hogwarts and in a sense her time in the world. However, she is slowly blossoming into a sweet girl who enjoys a good time with good company.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?:
With her older brother suffering from obsessions and compulsions, responsibility fell on Lydie to be the rock of the family. Even at a young age, Lydie would do whatever she could to cheer her big brother up. She'd step up to do whatever seemingly scary or nerve-wracking task that was causing Jai to worry, just to ease his suffering. She is bold and brave and unapologizing for who she is.

    Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Glitzy, bold, and independent Gryffindor Lydie Patil has a case of FOMO: Fear Of Missing Out. She wants to get as much as she can out of life and loves talking to people and hearing about their experiences. Swapping stories (sometimes via eavestropping) is her favorite thing, so she's always up for a good chat. Be warned, though - if she has an opinion, she's going to share it.
