Balfour,

I would rather sit through two days of meetings with Magical Transport than this, and that's saying something for 10 o'clock on a Friday morning.

Will you be home tonight? I may do something wretched if Elixa keeps asking me if I'm alright. Will do anything to escape, and I mean anything.

I'd elaborate, but well, I've already bought carnations twice this month for Mrs L. People will start suggesting she's got an admirer.

(You have incidentally, Mrs L, Spirit Division, with the monocle. You must have noticed?)

A harried, smudged flourish to the script of the letter. A single drop of blood marks the parchment corner.

Johann,

If your anything extends to helping me babysit two acutely hyperactive Siberian Huskies, then please feel free to come by this evening. Bring food as I may be late.

Mrs Lanningham has been quite catty around the Spirit Division since your letter this morning. I pray this monocled man hath courage.

Cheers,

Balfour,

Sounds an ideal distraction. I'll see you when you get in, or whatever part of you makes it home from Wales if you're bleeding on letters.

(I had thought monospeccy was obvious, be kind Mrs L. enjoy the flattery!)
