"I don't think it would overwhelm them, my love." Francis afforded a little smile, "They'd quite like to lose us there. Though, it does take them away from any friends around here. Here and at Octavius and Catherine's is the only Christmas they've really known." The smile fades a little. "I'll write them nearer the time."

Gabrielle's touch to his shoulders was enjoyable and he nodded, there is probably some ice cream. He was not one for eating it, but Gabrielle's interest in it normally led to some being bought as part of the groceries. He sat patiently, enjoying the shoulder rub, head lowered. Though he did feel he probably should have been the one delivering it. In contrast, his week had not been quite so dramatic or stressful.

"You're too kind, my dear." Francis replied, shaking his head gently at her words. "I am but the man you make me become." He reached for her hand on his shoulder and brought it forward to kiss it, squeezing it gently.

"Come now, I'll find the ice cream. Make yourself comfortable in the living room." He released her hand and got up, kissing her gently before setting to with his work. A wave of his wand sent the washing up piling at the side of the sink, another the tap filling the bowl with hot water and soap. He might be a haphazard cook, but Francis could always clean up with a little magic when the boys weren't home.

But for tonight, there would be time to hold Gabrielle and lift her spirits after such a dreadful week. It was the least he could do for the woman he loved.
