Minister Visit to Hogwarts

on February 14, 2015, 04:25:55 PM

Would anyone be interested in a mini-plot of the Minister coming to Hogwarts?  We could relate it to Dementors Dementing, but also as Minister Zephyr's political platform of being pro-education and magical culture and what not? I also understand that SAWS has been revived? Persepolis actually met with SAWS in an official capacity before she became Minister.

Perhaps the students could arrange some sort of welcome presentation (or unapproved protest as the case may be).

I'd certainly need at least a few staff members on board to have a few threads, and some students. :D  (Everyone is welcome, of course, but if there was anyone who'd like to actively engage, it'd be most fun.)

Sarah, would you be able to do like a bullet point quick version of Zephyr's political stances currently?  (I know there's a lot going on and it would be nice to have a condensed version rather than hunting it all down).

Indica would love to exercise her right to protest... but I am, unfortunately, behind on what she would possibly be protesting!

I'm always up for Persepolis visiting Hogwarts. I love the dynamic of Hogwarts and the Ministry together. Both respecting each others autonomy, but both bound together - it's just fun. I'm happy to throw any of my characters your way - whether it's one of my students for questioning/interviewing, or Minerva or William.

Ignan's always available (though probably on his best behaviour as requested by Minerva haha) and would probably take a dig at the dementor situation ;)

I've also got Francis who has joined the governors, if you were up for them being involved. They are in charge of making sure the school is accountable, after all, and Zephyr's more than familiar with that. We don't do much governor stuff, but it'd be good to have some sort of disagreement dividing them to add a bit of tension for them all while they pretend everything's finnnnne.

Your faithful hound-badger will be eager to join you, Minister!

I'd be happy to pop in as well, especially if there's an open thread. Naturally, if they know she's coming, Felinus will make sure the castle is spotless. If she shows up by surprise, he'd probably freak out trying to compensate. :p

What if we set up an appointment on Club Day?

We could put together a small band of people early in the day to discuss dementors and what-have-you with a real political edge, and that would leave the rest of the day for the visitors to mingle with the students and staff and chat about anything you wanted.

That would give plausible reasoning for representatives from the Ministry as well as the Governors (and anyone else) to be hanging around Hogwarts and it wouldn't be interrupting any classes or events.

(other suggestions welcome!)

If it's related to the Dementors plot I'd love to get Miranda involved :) then it's the ministry, school and hospital together!

Pretty please may I have some overblown ceremony speech thing where everyone can be bored (or enthralled, as the case may be) and so Zep can talk about inspirational things?

Ahhhhh, and attendance will be compulsory.  :D

Q&A session! With lots of awkward/ridiculous questions - like who would win in a fight, a Norwegian Ridgeback or a Yeti?

ooooh that sounds wonderful!

I'll put together a plot topic for club day with a tentative schedule! Perhaps directly after breakfast - the kick-off to club day. The ministry can throw together a booth to talk to students about whatever they want. Make the day of it! A booth might annoy Minerva a bit, but she'll get over it
