[Sept. 1] All Together Again [Ollie, then open]

on February 09, 2015, 02:45:50 PM

"Now, you've got everything you need, yeah? I don't fancy finding a frantic Howler from you in two days when you realize you've left Mr. Magoo or summat," the tall gruff spoken man cleared his throat and reached out to cup the side of Sophie's head playfully. Duncan was not sure how he felt standing on the edge of the platform wishing his baby girl a fond farewell. This was the final time they'd ever make this trip. It felt some how hollow and incomplete without her mother there to be a part of it all.

"Da, I've done this six times before. I think I might vaguely know what I'm doing," the sentiment of his words weren't lost on Sophie. She just didn't want to dwell on the people who couldn't be there because she was so glad that one personal in particular was. She could hardly contain herself, having Ollie standing so close, really really coming back to Hogwarts for their 7th year. It felt like one of the several pieces that had been missing over the last year was falling back into place. She had her tiny fingers clamped around the other girl's in an affectionate vice, as though she were worried that the Werewolf might just bolt and vanish on her all over again given half a chance.

Duncan just smiled at his sassy youngest and pressed a kiss atop her head, giving her a tight squeeze before stepping out of the way to let Nana have her goodbye time as well, All told it only took a few minutes but Sophie was very eager to get on the train (mostly because once they were on board, Ollie would have limited options of escape, and Sophie wanted to make sure this year started off perfectly. It was going to be THE BEST YEAR EVER, it had to be. Sophie felt entitled after the last  two years (and it wasn't like Sophie to feel entitled to anything. That just wasn't how she rolled). She was just so happy to have her best friend back it was hard to focus on how serious these goodbyes could be.

Deep deep down she was grateful her father was there with Nan to fuss. The great wide canyon between them was slowly closing. It got smaller every time he made an effort, every time he did the thing she thought he'd forgotten how. She hoped the fact her hug was tighter and lingered just a little told him that. On the off chance he didn't get the meaning she'd owl him later to tell him. When the two girls finally managed to escape from the clutches of parents Sophie flung her arm around the other girl's shoulder as they hopped on the train and began searching for an open compartment, "Have I told you yet how happy I am you're back? Because I am really happy you're back".

Awkwardly Ollie tried to look anywhere but at the display going on next to her with her best friend and her father. Not that it was anything she was unwilling to observe, she simply didn't want to just stare. She knew how her father and Sophie were working on bridging the gap in their relationship and Ollie didn't want to hover too closely. Not that she had any choice due to the fact Sophie had her hands on her and while she would have preferred to step away she wasn't about to try to. Sophie was fine with her there and so she was going to stay, but it didn't mean she had to stare directly at it.

As a seventh year she was probably in a more interesting position than most, having not been at the school for the prior two years in completion. Her mother and her had said their goodbyes earlier, as Ollie wished not for her to fuss with her at Kings Cross. She had turned into such an independent young woman since being home schooled, and rarely checked in. When she did it was out of courtesy or nearing a full moon. Ollie was giving up that freedom to return to school for a schedule and structured education. Honestly she was not so sure how that was going to go. She had seen people about her feelings on this as well of a vast array surrounding her troubles with being a werewolf. Troubles she had never experienced before in her life until now, but she was overcoming and feeling strong enough to be standing where she was.

With some relief Nan switched off with Duncan allowing Ollie to turn back and smile at the lady and offer a brief glance to Duncan. The familiar faces she knew almost like they were her own family. Still Sophie clung on, amidst all the hugs. Ollie was tugged along into them, but she went without complaint. Finally as they turned to board the train she rested her head on Sophie as she wrapped her arms around her. "I know Duck." Ollie paused, "I am too." Or so she thought. That was what she kept telling herself, that yes she was okay with this and yes she was happy about it. Now she just had to make sure her feelings stayed that way.

"Now Duck, let's go find us a compartment." She grinned, "one of the last times we can say that."

Duck was a fairly new nickname, Sophie didn't mind. It was just good to have Ollie back, close enough to reach out and touch. She was tempted, every so often, to pinch the other girl to remind herself it was all really happening and wasn't just some strange dream she'd wake up from. Sophie had lost so much in the last two years she couldn't bare the thought of losing Ollie again. She knew that things were different, maybe even a little strange because of the changes, but she had hopes they could have one final year together to be young and wild and free.

Tromping down the train car they found the last empty compartment and Sophie tugged Ollie in behind her, glancing out the window to see Nan and her father still standing there waving, her smile brightened a bit as she wiggled her fingers at them, "it's so weird to think we only have a few more rides left. Ugh, too sad! Let's talk about how amazing we're going to make this year instead okay? Because I am determined this is going to be the best year ever. No yucky drama, no putting up with bullshit from upper years, We are basically Queens, and while you have quashed my dreams of being hot and tall. I think I can still manage hot. I mean lookit my bum, pretty fantastic," she turned and lifted the edge of her cardigan giving her hips a little wiggle before giggling and dropping onto the long bench seat.
