Oh! What a week it must have been for the first year students of Hogwarts. Their first round of final examinations at a school of magic. Branwen was sure that if they had the presence of mind to harken back to their first week months ago, they'd be proud of how far they'd come. But frankly, Branwen wasn't super good with young children and she wasn't really concerned about their stress.
She was however, aware that their first final needn't be grueling.Greenhouse One was much tidier than usual as Branwen had already started to minimize and tidy up for the summer. The floor was swept, the tables clean, and she'd even replaced the stool with uneven feet. As the students hurried in, she handed them a crisp parchment booklet, and a quill.
"That's it, that's it, take one. Don't open it yet, please, and don't blunt your quill. Set your things down and sit quietly for the present. The time to prove yourselves has come! I have complete faith in most of you."
It wasn't long before they were all settled. Well, nearly all of them. She waited pointedly for the young one running down the lawns as the bells were ringing the quarter hour.
"You may look up for inspiration, down in desperation, but not side to side for information. If you're going to die, then die quietly and don't bleed all over everything. Are we ready? Begin!"
When the students open the booklet, each page has a collection of questions. Sometimes accompanied by a picture, sometimes, a space left for a longer answer. There were true and false, multiple choice, and matching. The last five pages of the exam were raw identification. Just two plant illustrations per page, with a line for the name of the plant.
Find in the next post a sprinkling of the questions your first year faces. It's up to you if you want to make a role-play post describing their attempts, or to answer the questions, or both. In the first situation, you essentially decide your final grade, in the second you're relying on your own wit and thus I'll decide, and in the latter, it's a combination of both! PM if you have any questions or concerns.
For those who cannot or choose not to sit the final, we'll assume your student did and that their grade matches the grade you've already sent me.
