Physical Description:
Standing at 5’10, it is unlikely that Eli is going to grow any taller. He is lean, stocky, and athletically built.. But he is insecure when it comes to exercising in public, and is much more comfortable with using the Room of Requirement as his own private gym. He would much rather think his muscles were all natural Eli takes great care in his appearance, and is rather insecure about his looks in general. His clothing tends to be put together, or at least, he tries to look put together.

Eli doesn’t have the best posture-- he has a tendency to slouch, hands in pockets, making him look shorter than he actually is. However, when he is trying to get someone’s attention or something has his attention,-- he stands at his full height.

He’s a smiley fellow-- quick to laugh, often too hard at things that really were not that funny. Unfortunately, his laugh is particularly ominous, deep, and evil, and has been since he first laughed as a baby. Eli is woefully unaware of it,

His hair is black, thick, and curly. And possibly full of secrets.  The gentleness of his dark eyes balances out the severity of his thick, expressive brows.

Eli has a heart shaped face, pointed chin and a well-defined jaw. In his ears are small over the ear hearing aids-- similar but different than the muggle sort, but just as effective. However, the hearing enhancing charms on them do need to be maintained from time to time, much to Eli’s irritation. 

Personality Description:
Eli is boisterous, loud, impulsive, and easygoing-- but he’s quick to take things personally, and cries easily-- whether they’re out of joy or out of anger and frustration, it varies. This particular trait used to bother him in his younger years, as he didn’t want to be viewed as a baby, but has more recently accepted that this is just how he is, and it is nothing to be ashamed of. He’s quick to cut down anyone who criticizes him for feeling. Despite his sensitivity, he actually quite loves life and hopes to make the most of it, and make his mark on the world while he can.

He speaks loudly, most of the time. And in those rare moments where his voice is quiet, it still has a tendency to carry. It is nearly impossible to have a private conversation with him without anyone overhearing a phrase of his here and there.

With a strong need to be liked, Eli faces the halls of Hogwarts with a smile on his face and a sense of humor. He’s approachable, or rather, he tries to be approachable. Eli is an incorrigible flirt, though he understands a thing called ‘boundaries’ and is careful not to take things too far, as he does not want to make people uncomfortable with him.

Like all Purebloods brought up in the UK, Eli was introduced to Quidditch at a young age, and his parents hoped it would be an outlet for his habit of throwing things at people. Unfortunately, it only taught him to perfect his aim. He has mostly grown out of the habit of tossing books at his fellow students and telling them to ‘think fast.’ Mostly being the key word.


History:
Eli was born to Raul Amherst and Fiorella (Ella)  Vega on February 28, 1993-- nine weeks premature. He was a sickly baby with all sorts of different health issues directly related to being born early. The first couple weeks of his life were spent in the care of healers, where his hearing loss was diagnosed. He was fitted with his first pair of magical hearing aids at six months old, and his parents immersed themselves books on how to raise a hard of hearing child. Fortunately for Eli, they took care in learning BSL-- much more than many parents of Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals did. Communication barriers were never an issue growing up, something that Eli is so very thankful for.

He received his Hogwarts acceptance letter the summer after he turned 11, and it came to no surprise. In fact, it was rather expected of him-- and Eli had been waiting anxiously for the letter ever since he knew what Hogwarts was.

With his friendly disposition, some did not expect Eli to be placed into Slytherin-- but his need to make a mark on the world and his natural resourcefulness made him a perfect enough fit for the house. Eli had no trouble fitting in, though being surrounded by those who are hearing has made him feel a bit like an outcast at times. He doesn’t quite feel like he belongs, as much as his friends include him. However, he doesn’t feel like he belongs in the Deaf community either, and it’s a source of conflict for him.

Although he is not an exceptional student, that is mostly because when he is not challenged he doesn’t put very much effort. However, Eli thinks quickly on his feet, and is a fairly skilled duelist. He loves quidditch, and is hoping to join the team in his seventh year-- preferably as a beater, but he would be perfectly satisfied with a position as a chaser.

As far as classes go, he picks up on wandwork quickly-- particularly when he's being taught in a hands-on fashion. His grades vary-- he tests well, but is not always the best when it comes to turning in assignments on time. Eli is mostly well behaved in class. At the moment, he doesn't know what he wants to do-- but he wants to do something important, to be someone important. Eli's just not sure which way he wants to go. He's interested in everything from pro quidditch to law enforcement to healing. However, they feel way too predictable to him, and he wants to do something different. What he wants to do changes every day.

Eli has had a great time at Hogwarts so far, and is now starting to worry about what his future holds for him as his seventh year approaches. He plans on putting more of an effort in this coming year, but we’ll see how that goes.

Eli has a need to make a mark on the world. He doesn't know what kind of mark he wants to make, but he wants to be remembered. He is also resourceful, and quick to think on his feet. He admires ambition in others.
