[May 15] Hogsmeade Not-out (OPEN)

on July 20, 2014, 08:30:58 PM

It was barely even warm enough out to be down by the lake. Yet here Obderedria was anyways to keep company with her fishy featured roommate, Helio. Normally study buddies needing to study for upcoming end of year exams shared a table or desk of some similar-ness. In this case it was trying to keep the latter out of the water long enough to compare notes and quiz each other.

"I'm not going to stick my feet in again!!" Obderedria called out, having scrunched forwards and backwards along the shore to where she was now away from the water again, feet failed to have dried off from a Hot Air Charm, which Obderedria was normally good at but her confidence and thus ability had waned.

Though she wasn't yet old enough to go to Hogsmeade on the weekend trips, she did have a bag of sweets from Honeydukes next to her. A morsel of something fudge covered was fished out, eaten, and swallowed by the time Helio's head next broke the surface of the water.

"What's another name for a domesticated sunbell?" Obderedria called out.

Whereas Heliotrope's fellow Hufflepuff had candy to snack on, Heliotrope herself found the best edibles to be something actively hunted to consume fresh. The half mermish girl of Hogwarts skirted the shallows after thin small fish that would come close to the banks of the lake. Heliotrope would circle the fish, stay out of sight, with a flash of her kelp whip snarled a straggling minnow and snapped it back to her other webbed hand.

She stood. A growth spurt made it that her head and shoulders broke the surface of the lake at this depth. She was focused on unraveling her catch when Obderedria asked a question.

"A dol-castrated sun shell," Heliotrope replied.

"A -- what??? No!" Obderedria said, half mortified. "It's a Peruvian Sunbell, it's a plant, not a--shell whatever you said. We had a test on this last year."
