Physical Description:
Alana has long, thick brown hair, with several streaks of bright and brilliant pink. She typically wears it down, wear it rests almost to her hips. Her face and the rest of her body is covered in freckles. The rest of her skin is quite pale, inherited from her Nordic heritage.

Alana most often wears dresses underneath her robes that are always a blue of some shade. She has bright green eyes that typically gain attention for being so sharp and penetrative.

Personality Description:
Alana is a very kind, empathetic, and loyal soul. She is very non-judgmental of others, and welcomes most anyone with open arms. This doesn't mean though that she cares for just any type of person, as she is very hesitant and wary of people who she believes are truly evil or hurtful. However, from her brother being in Slytherin, Alana has learnt to reserve judgement about a person's first impression until after she has learned more about them.

Alana often doubts herself, and struggles believing that she's strong enough or capable enough. To this day she's unable to fully control her gift, and it makes her question her own self control. She's always afraid that she will predict something awful about the ones she loves, though it's been nigh impossible to tell who a prophecy might refer to before the event actually occurs.


History:
Alana was born to her parents Alex Lucas and Moira Wright. Moira was a witch who fell in love with Alex despite her parents own warning about marrying a Muggle, given how much they struggled to overcome their own differences. But Moira and Alex were indeed very much in love, and when Moira was 24, they were married. Moira revealed a few days before the wedding that she was indeed a witch, and that it was very likely their own children might be magical.

Alex took this all in stride, too in love with Moira to be terribly bothered by this theoretical possibility. After all, who said they would even have children? But sure enough, Moira did become pregnant, and had Alana in February of 1978. It was hard enough for Alex to deal with all the random outbursts of magic from their baby. And again when Moira had a son two years later. Even harder yet was that at the age of three, Alana gave her first prediction. Moira explained that their daughter was a seer, which was proven true when a year later Alana's prediction came true.

This was too much to handle for Alex, and one rainy night he left Moira, Alana and his son Xavier, and never returned. Moira eventually learnt that he'd moved to the US, but never bothered to contact him. He'd chosen to leave, she didn't want him back.  Alana and Xavier were raised by both their mother and Moira's grandparents, as they hurt for their daughter's loss, despite their warning. The family moved in together, and lived in close, comfortable quarters.

Alana's predictions were carefully monitored by her mother, and someone was almost always with her when she had them, as Moira homeschooled both her children. It was thusly that Alana dreaded her Hogwarts letter, and was quite unhappy the day it finally arrived. She was afraid of leaving home, of leaving her mother, and the rest of her family. But she went anyway, to make her mother happy. Sweet and loyal Alana was sorted into Hufflepuff. She was afraid that her abilities as a seer would be off putting and make people want to use her or stay away from her. But she was lucky in finding people who valued her for her personality and not for being a seer.

Xavier was sorted into Slytherin, to the horror and surprise of everyone. Alana was not surprised however, knowing what her brother was like. They struggled through many years to get along and not resent each other for what house they were in, but it was only after the Final Battle at Hogwarts that the two fully reconciled and became close again.

After Alana graduated, she traveled the world, trying to control her foreseeing better, and learn from master Seers. She traveled to all corners of the globe, including Israel, Chile, Japan, and Uganda. Throughout these six years, Alana learned many things, and saw many wonders and terrors. When she was 25, her grandparents passed away, only months apart from each other, and Alana decided it was time to return home. Alana spent the next couple of years writing about her experiences, and compiling a huge anthology of resources for fellow seers.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:
Alana's job is to teach her students all that she knows, and try and show them how Divination can be used practically. But more than that, she feels her job is to teach students that Divination is very real, and done by someone who actually takes it seriously, it can be a dangerous craft. Alana uses her own first hand experiences to teach her students, drawing from many different sources. She's also a very warm and loving professor who is more than willing to tutor students outside of scheduled classtime, and always enjoys discussing Divination with those passionate about it.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field:
Alana received naturally high scores on both her OWLs and NEWTs in Divination, given that she's been a seer for as long as she can remember. Alana spent six years after she graduated from Hogwarts studying with fellow seers as well as centaurs. She's written several books on her experiences, as well as a collection of resources for seers and lovers of Divination.

Alana Wright is a gentle soul whose gift can make her seem both terrifying, and intriguing. She is loyal through and through to those she loves, and always wants to help those in need. She's young for a Professor, at only 32, but her age little represents how she behaves, as she is an old soul who carries wisdom far beyond her years.

Alana learned to hone this ability with the people she visited around the world. She spent six years traveling the world, studying with seers and centaurs, in order to have better understanding and control of her own abilities.

Describe how the Special Ability influences their life.  What do they use it for?:
Alana is a Divination Professor, and as such uses her own experience witness prophecies and giving ones in the classroom. She also turns over her prophecies to the Department of Mysteries for safe keeping.

Write a description of what happens when your character is exhibiting this Special Ability: Alana is only able to be lucid during her prophecies some of the time. Some occasions she remembers practically every word, and other times she doesn't even remember having gone into one. For some, Alana's ability scares and disturbs, however for others Alana is a unique and fascinating mystery whom they wish to get to know better.

What Experience has Prepared You For This Honor?:
Alana was sorted into Hufflepuff and of course spent all seven years living in their rooms. She is a caring and understanding person who has a good relationship with almost all students, particularly Hufflepuffs. She knows that more often than not, a student really just needs a shoulder to cry on, and some well thought out guidance.

What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is?:
The most important aspect of being a Head of House is being available, emotionally and physically, for your students. A Head of House should be there for both a students failures, and their triumphs. If they are struggling to decide what OWLs or NEWTs to take, it is a Head of House's responsibility to give them intelligent advice.

Tell a Story From Your Past That Has Proven Your Mettle: 
When Alana was at Hogwarts, she often dealt with ridicule from both Hufflepuff and Slytherin that she and her brother were in said houses. This maddened Alana, but she refused to fight the students nor tell them to back off. So instead she focused her time on looking after the students who weren't sure they fit into either house. Slytherins who weren't sure they were cunning enough, Hufflepuffs who weren't sure they were kind enough. Alana formed a sort of underground club for these students, a place where their houses didn't matter, only who they were inside.
