Ariadne Gamp didn't study Muggle Studies, but it didn't stop her from bursting into Professor Frasier's classroom after lessons broke for lunch that Wednesday. She was all excited and wanted to show him what she'd received in the post - because he'd be able to explain it. She'd nearly burst out of Kesali's charms class physically to catch him.

Ariadne's father was a friend of Isaac and as a result, Harry had grown up knowing of the Muggle Studies professor, though she had to be careful to remember to address him by his proper title when he was at school. She'd not decided to study Muggle studies for completely unrelated reasons, but did regret it once in a while.

"Isaac!" She exclaimed as the last of the fifth year students left his classroom. Realising her mistake she clapped her hand over her mouth and blushed.

"Sorry! I keep doing that, I am so sorry. Professor." Glancing back to check that the other students were gone, she approached his desk with a bounce and extended one long arm with her school jumper pushed up to her elbows, offering him a postcard.

"Dad sent it to me, arrived this morning, but I don't get it, what is the photo on the front? It doesn't move so I know it's Muggle. Looks like some big metal thing. He said Muggles use it for astronomy, and it's like a bird?" She explained, referencing the photograph of a space shuttle on the front, a foreign concept to Ariadne.

Students filed from his classroom as Isaac prepared to seek out a quick lunch before grading some of the papers that had been piling up on his desk.  The end of the year meant lots of last minute grades, especially since he had come back in the middle of the term and was trying to pick up where another had left off.

"Isaac!"

He glanced up at the sound of his first name, not something he was generally used to hearing in his classroom, and noticed a few students eyeing Ariadne Gamp curiously.  He offered her a smile as she apologized for the informal greeting.  The truth was it had taken a great deal of time to adjust to being 'Professor Fraiser' when he decided to enter the world of teaching as formality had never really been one of his favorite things.

"Dad sent it to me, arrived this morning, but I don't get it, what is the photo on the front? It doesn't move so I know it's Muggle. Looks like some big metal thing. He said Muggles use it for astronomy, and it's like a bird?"

"Muggles do use it to fly, so I suppose one could compare it to a bird," he said, looking at the photo of the space shuttle.  "It's called a space shuttle and Muggles use it to fly very high up to study the stars and the planets."

He paused there, letting the first part sink in and waiting for further questions.

Her father had sent the card from a place called Florida, which Ariadne knew was a place where some of the Salem students might have come from. He wasn't officially working, but had taken a trip over there because the publishers wanted to look into publishing some guides on the weirdest Muggle places to visit - and that included strange inventions like these.

"It's called a space shuttle and Muggles use it to fly very high up to study the stars and the planets." Isaac explained.

"What? They get a big metal chicken and take their telescopes up high? Why don't they must build big telescopes that can see far like we do?" Ariadne asked, baffled, looking down at the postcard which was still in the Professor's hand. She ran a hand through her black curls in confusion and poked a finger at the photograph.

"Does its wings flap or something then, because they don't seem very big. Sorry, are these stupid questions? I've never seen anything like it, it looks like a massive big metal bucket or something."  She blushed, feeling silly for asking, but glad it was Isaac who at least she knew of longer than most of her professors, and also in a more friendly way than them.
