Wand: Raine's wand is 10 inches, made of Acacia, with a Unicorn hair core. It is pliable and slightly bent.
Physical Description: Raine has pale skin and large piercing light blue/grey eyes. Her hair is long dark brown hair that can look slightly red in the sunlight. It is naturally fairly straight with a slight wave at the ends and Raine tends to wear it loose, occasionally pulling it into a messy bun for potions.
She is approximately 5'4'' tall and weighs 110lbs and is fairly slim. Raine wishes she was taller and tries to give the appearance of being so with her clothes and posture.
Raine often finds herself the object of many boys' attention due to her appearance, which, although sometimes flattering, is generally just annoying. She is told that due to her large eyes and lips, she looks "cute" a term she greatly dislikes as a description because she feels it makes her seem younger.
Raine enjoys wearing dresses or skirts and looking girly. Although she wishes she was taller, she generally avoids heels, opting for flat shoes and pumps. This is due to her untimely clumsiness: if she wore heels, this would just worsen it.
To a stranger meeting Raine for the first time, she would seem girly and sweet, although accident-prone and rather quiet. Her voice is also fairly quiet and high-pitched, although she tends to speak rather quickly, meaning people often don't hear what she says.
Personality Description: Raine appears quiet and sweet at a glance, the person often wondering why she is in slitherin. She also immediately comes across as very intelligent seeming naturally gifted. This is actually not the case, Raine actually works very hard to achieve good grades in school. She does this because she is determined to keep up with her brothers and match or beat their good marks. Raine feels she has to prove herself to her parents who are both intelligent and successful and her brothers are following in their footsteps. Because of this she often felt overshadowed as a child but solves this by working hard and making sure she does well in everything she does. She believes her parents have extremely high expectations for her and thus has very high expectations for herself. However all this hard work can become quite stressful for her. Raine likes to pretend she is naturally gifted as things and appear perfect from the outside. So while she knows she works hard for everything she achieves, no one else realises this. This means that she is often sneaking about and going to study at odd times so it appears that she doesn’t actually need to try. This means the stress Raine puts herself under is tremendously high. This means that she can often snap at people, appearing moody because they have interrupted her studying and because she puts immense pressure on herself. Along with these high expectations and determination to succeed, comes ambitiousness. Raine is determined to better herself and be exactly where she wants to be. Raine wants to leave Hogwarts and train as an Auror, eventually progressing to Head auror.
Along with hiding the work she puts herself through, making her work seem effortless, Raine is also prone to hiding other emotions, resulting in outbursts. If she is frustrated or upset, she will hold these emotions in to the point they become overwhelming and just take her over, often scaring people off. If Raine does not meet the ridiculously high standards she sets herself, she can get upset and shut herself away from people to hide this. This is because, as a child, if she appeared weak, or cried, her brothers would tease her mercilessly and pick on her more. Because of this she has learnt how to stand up for herself.
Raine can often be rather manipulative, convincing people to do what she wants them to, very subtly. However she can often be insensitive to the wants and feelings of other people when she does this, which can upset people or turn them against her. She tends to assume people want what she does and does not consider what they think in situations. She also has a habit of ignoring rules if they get in the way of what she wants to do, especially curfews.
Raine is very competitive and enjoys quidditch and would love to be able to play (which would also be an outlet for her emotions) however she is incredibly clumsy and uncoordinated. She is constantly tripping over things, including her own feet, and up or down stairs. Much to the amusement of her peers, resulting in embarrassment, which is, of course, held in by Raine so people don’t see she feels like that. When she embarrasses herself with her clumsiness, Raine tends to laugh along with people on the outside when actually, she is burning with embarrassment. Another result of this is an inability to throw or catch balls or generally partake in any kind of sports. She tried out for the quidditch team in second year but was immediately told that she could not play, much to her embarrassment, due to her lack of hand-eye coordination which is required for the game. As a compromise, Raine tends just to fly instead, often racing people to let out her competitive-ness.
Although appearing quiet at first, this is not the case when with her friends, where she will often talk a lot more. However she often talks a lot about herself, coming across as arrogant and self-absorbed. But her friends know that she really does care for them because she is incredibly loyal and protective of them. If anyone hurts her friends she will find out and do something about it.
She loves cats and always dearly misses her black kitten, Salem. Sadly she had to leave him at home when going to hogwarts because he was terrified of travelling on the Hogwarts express.
History: Raine was born in Galway, Ireland to her parents, Anna and Dylan Willows. She has 2 older brothers, Pilot and Valente. They chose rather unusual names for their children. Her parents both attended Hogwarts, her mother was half-blood and her father was muggleborn, making Raine and her brothers half-blood.
Anna (Hufflepuff) now works as a Healer in St Mungos while Dylan (Ravenclaw) is a cursebreaker. Pilot and Valente (Ravenclaw) also attended Hogwarts, leaving 4 and 1 years ago respectively. Pilot is now training as an auror while Valente is training as a dragon handler. Raine feels like a lot of pressure is put upon her to meet her parents expectations and the standards set for her by her brothers.
Raine grew up in Galway, on the outskirts of town in a detached house in a muggle neighborhood. As a child her parents decided it was important for her to attend school as normal so they sent her to the local muggle primary school. Raine, although not popular, had a few close friends and many acquaintances throughout her time at primary school.
Her parents had taught her to control her temper at a young age, so as not to reveal her magic abilities to the other children, parents or staff. Living with two older brothers, Raine was often pushed around a lot so learnt to stick up for herself, often managing to manipulate her brothers into doing things for her or her parents into believing her if her brothers upset her.
Their parents were enthusiastic about education and helped their children with homework from school or, once they were old enough, began preparing them for their Hogwarts education. Raine was always a quick learner and put effort into her studying, so as to try keep up with her brothers. This led her family to believe she would be sorted into Ravenclaw.
When Raine turned 11, she recieved her hogwarts letter and was sorted into Slytherin. This resulted in teasing from her brothers, claiming she just wasn't smart enough to be sorted into Ravenclaw. This made Raine even more determined to do better than them. Throughout her first year at Hogwarts, she made a small group of friends within her house although she never refrained from befriending students of other houses. Raine moved through her years at Hogwarts with apparent ease (although there was often more stress and work underneath than apparent to outsiders) For her OWLs, Raine sat the exams for all her core classes plus ancient runes and arithmancy. She recieved minimum of Es for each subject with Os for her favourites, which she continued to NEWT level for her sixth year.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Although Raine was nearly sorted into Ravenclaw for her obvious intelligent, the sorting hat then realised her motivations and abilities, were actually different. Although she seemed smart and studious, she was actually determined to prove herself just as smart, or more, than her brothers and prove herself to her parents. She had an ability to stick up for herself and manipulate people into doing what she wanted them to with considerable ease. This resulted in a change of decision by the sorting hat, so Raine was sorted into Slytherin.
Writing Sample: Raine trailed through the rain and puddles on the busy streets of central London behind her mother, on the way to Kings Cross Station where she would board the train for her 6th year at Hogwarts. She was excited to start working towards her NEWTs. She hoped to get better marks than her brothers did. She wanted an O! As she followed her mother into the station, someone, probably a muggle, pushed past her, barging into her shoulder knocking her and her belongings flying. Her already precarious balance could not take all the bustling of people in central London. She much preferred it in Ireland. There was so fewer people and they actually had the concept of personal space! As she hurriedly picked herself up, flushed, and brushed the dirt from the ground off of her pretty blue dress, she called after her mum, asking her to wait. Watching her sigh as she turned around, waiting for Raine to gather her things, Raine thought miserably about how stupid she must look, getting knocked off her feet with the slightest nudge.
When they reached the barrier between platforms nine and ten, Raine's mother took her luggage (not trusting Raine to get herself and her trunk through the barrier, probably) She then gave a hurried glance around the station to check for muggles watching then disappeared through onto the platform. Raine took a deep breath and followed her through. On the platform there was an abundance of students and anxious parents everywhere. She could smell the comforting scent of coal, steam and ever-so-slightly rusty steam train that was the Hogwarts express. There was the constant hooting of owls and meowing of cats to be heard over the loud conversations, as the pets were loaded onto the train. Raine looked around, checking to see if she could spot anyone she knew amongst the crowds but failing, to see anything over the heads, all seeming so much higher than her. Turning round she spotted her mum strolling towards the train, luggage in hand. Raine hurriedly spun around, almost bumping into a small nervous looking kid, probably a first year, in her haste. As she caught up, she spotted that her mum had found an empty compartment and was lifting Raine's trunk up onto the rack. Raine sighed in relief. She never had the strength to lift it herself and always made a full of herself with her struggles. With a brief hug and goodbye to her mother, Raine sat herself down, propping her feet up on the seat opposite and sat, watching the other students going by, keeping a hopeful eye out for her friends.
