Remembering Remembering Day
Do you remember when?

Gemini has a magical proposition for us...

So, remember last year when we had that neat challenge to pensieve the Sorting of characters we didn't get to see introduced "live"? I think it'd be fun to do something similar for the older characters, taking us back to what could be called the "beginning" of our AO world -- the Battle of Hogwarts, 1998.[1]

It's Remembering Day in-character, and that means a time to reflect on the fierce battle that ended Voldemort's reign of terror. We have a lot of characters on the board who were either present that day or affected by the aftermath -- lost family, upended lives, and more. Even if they weren't a part of the fight, every witch and wizard in Great Britain likely knew of the battle immediately. Hearing that the Dark Lord's been slain strikes me as one of those world-changing moments that you'd never forget for as long as you live.

So let's see that. Let's reach back into the old memories and see the moment when our characters answered the call, or heard the good news, or caught their breath in the after-battle peace, or realized for the first time who they'd lost. Let's see them immediately before, during, after, on the battlefield or miles away -- wherever. It's Remembering Day. So let's remember.

We at Absit Omen agree!
Raise your wands, pull out that silvery wisp of what once was, and create a thread in The Pensieve.  Tag it Remembering Day Challenge so we can all see.

This is an Absit Omen role-playing challenge! From time to time, we'll call upon you movers and shakers to direct your substantial imaginations towards some type of in-character challenge.  Take the prompting and incorporate it into plots or threads new or old.  Then, when you've accomplished this lofty task, respond to this thread with the fruits of your labors! A link, a quote, and a few words on how it went.  Naturally optional, no prizes - just grit and glory!
 1. Absit Omen's story began on the 10th anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts with an AO-canon tradition of Remembering Day celebrations.

Right. Well. Somebody has to kick this off, so here're two scenes that semi-inspired the suggestion in the first place:

Teddy Lupin -- When Your Father Went Out Hunting (slight warning for breastfeeding if you happen to be sensitive about that)
Teddy gets a short one, because there's really only so much you can comprehend about a situation when you're barely three weeks old...

Silas Woodward -- Sleeping Dragons
While Silas, despite being completely alone, will not shut up. ^_^

When I saw this challenge I just had to do it for Neville, to explore the reactions of a character that was actively part of the Battle. I even ended up rereading that final chapter just to figure out where he would be.
