Today was the day of the Career Fair. Raine had been looking forward to this for weeks. Going over and over in her head how best to impress the Aurors - hopefully her future colleagues. She'd woken up early to mentally prepare for this. She was going to head straight to the DMLE booth and introduce herself to whoever was working there and get as much information as she could about it. She was determined. An auror was what she was MEANT to be. Nothing else. She had to impress them. As she climbed the stairs up from the Dungeons towards the great hall she pondered her future and the idea of a career as an auror. That would impress her brothers. They thought they were so tough and she was just a girl. She'd show them. She'd be the head auror. Give her ten years and she'd be there. Training as an auror required good grades, she could do that though. Her grades were great. They'd better be. She'd worked hard for them.
Raine strode confidently through the doors of the Great Hall, noticing the crowds of people around the colourful booths and the endless chatter booming around the hall. She paused for a second, before spotting the booth she was looking for. Ignoring everything else she continued with her purpose, heading straight for the DMLE booth. She spotted a couple of Aurors standing around it and a few students, including Xavier. He was another sixth year Slytherin. She hoped he wasn't seriously interested in it, she wanted as little competition as possible when applying after she finished seventh year. She paused, a couple of metres away, taking in the scene. The dead body sprawled in front of them and the sign advertising the internship for the student that guessed correctly. Raine would kill for that position. It would give her such an advantage for when she applied to train as an auror! She hurried forward for a slip of paper to write her guess. She'd have to consider this carefully though. She HAD to get this right! As she barreled forward, desperate to get started, she failed to notice another student walking in front of her and walked straight into him. Her small frame and general clumsiness meant that she was knocked flying and toppled to the ground, hitting the cold stone floor. She picked herself up hurriedly, flushing at her managing to embarrass herself already. She snatched the piece of paper and turned to examine the body, hiding her red cheeks.
Raine examined the body, wracking her brain for information for possible ways this person could have been killed. After a while she came up with an answer. She pondered it for a minute before deciding that was what she would guess. She was fairly sure of herself. Fingers crossed she was right. Pausing for a minute to watch Xavier submit his answer, she carefully followed behind him and posted her answer into the box. She stayed exactly where she stood, stiff as a board, waiting with baited breath for the box to proclaim whether her answer was correct...
