[Mar 31] Shore Up Your Walls on March 08, 2014, 03:06:17 PM Three snow white owls escorted a scroll directly from the Minister of Magic's office. It was bound with a wax seal and an enchantment that only allowed its intended recipient to open it. 31 March 20109:50amTo the Headmistress of Hogwarts, Minerva McGonagall, Order of Merlin First Class, Elder on the Wizengamot; First my thanks for allowing the Aurors temporarily into Hogwarts in order to interview the witnesses. I have complete confidence their work will be immensely valuable to putting an end to this state of emergency. Secondly, I'd like to offer my sincerest gratitude that no one was hurt and my pride in your professors and students for acting so bravely. We come then to the matter of our mutual cooperation. The Ministry of Magic duly recognizes the autonomy of Hogwarts in times of emergency. However, the security of our greatest institution is of great importance to all of wizarding Britain and Ireland. I'd like to meet as soon as possible to find out how the Ministry can support Hogwarts security and how Hogwarts can aide in our fight against this insidious infestation.I await your positive word at your next available convenience. Or inconvenience.Signed and sent from the desk and quill proper of the Minister of Magic Madam Persepolis Zephyr. Hogwarts (and I) recognize and accept your gratitude, and would like to extend the same to you. The efficiency and swiftness of the Auror Corps has indeed been invaluable during these stressful times, and the assistance has been most appreciated. I can assure you that Hogwarts has only the safety of our students in mind, and additional security measures are being taken very seriously. Any ideas you or the Ministry may have on increasing our already heightened security would be most helpful. This problem obviously takes priority, and other appointments may be rescheduled. A meeting at your earliest convenience would benefit us both, I believe. Although this time, the letter seems not to have been personally drafted by the Minister herself. Is a lengthy list of security recommendations, including maps, patrol schedules, defensive spell reference, rune circle diagrams, student behavior protocols, and the scant research from the Department of Mysteries on Dementor behavior as nearly as it can currently be predicted. Therein are also contained materials from the Ministry of Magic's public safety campaign charging citizens to travel in pairs and think happy thoughts. There are multiple copies of the Keep Calm and Carry a Wand posters.[1]There is even what looks to be a curriculum from the 1950s on how to cast a Patronus with a small sticky note marked 'CC: Professor Storm/Defense' And of course, no Ministry intervention would be complete without a formal request to station Magical Law Enforcement personnel on the grounds and provide them with total security authority. 1. At this point in time, Hogwarts must respectfully decline the generous offer for additional security through law enforcement personnel. As your public service announcements so ingeniously state, one should ‘think happy thoughts’. With end of year exams nearly upon the students, as well as the Tetrawizard Tournament, added seminars, and extracurricular activities, I feel as if very few would be happy with aurors roaming the grounds. As guardian of Hogwarts, I feel that at this time it would simply be a distraction and would bring unnecessary worry and stress to the inhabitants of the castle. Should events progress further, the Hogwarts administration will be happy to reevaluate our decision. As stated before, the efficiency of the auror corps is to be commended, and I have full confidence that should need arise, they will be just as diligent as they were during this chaotic time. If advice is still requested on how to progress with the situation as a community at large, my only suggestion would be to look into literature from this century.
