The Vampire Wears Prada

Violet is a 122-year-old vampire and editor of Runwitch Magazine, a monthly fashion magazine for the wizarding world. She is also an activist who uses her public platform to sometimes subtly and sometimes not so subtly push for vampire rights. Her letters in each issue of Runwitch tie a broad number of topics into the cover story, including politics and social trends. She might be a thorn in the side for some lawmakers, while others might admire her efforts. She is a very demanding boss. Opinions on Violet are probably all over the place, so I welcome anything and everything! Some things to start with:

Employees & Interns!
For those who like to work nights and don't expect too much sleep or gratitude
  • I have a couple of potential summer interns lined up, but there's really no limit! If your character doesn't mind giving up a few of their precious nights a week to labor in the fashion closet while everyone else is out partying in Diagon, please toss your kids at me! Maybe Mum and Dad have no idea their child is working for a vampire?
  • I would love a personal assistant for Violet... this person can be in charge of a small army of lesser assistants, or part of that small army.
  • Past employees are also welcome! People who did well under Violet's wing... or people who were fired or barely scraped by. Your character does not have to love fashion to have worked at Runwitch or one of its affiliated magazines.
Friends or Acquaintances
  • Violet probably knows a lot of people, but most of them are not close friends. If your character works in fashion or any related field (media, photography, art, publishing), let's establish a connection!
  • Violet is very old, and I would be interested in establishing friendships or acquaintances who go decades back.
  • She is not the softest, squishiest, share-your-feelings-iest of friends, but she would be a nice (maybe the wrong word) person to have on your side and is a good listener when she respects someone. Being a vampire can make someone patient. It has certainly given Violet perspective on humans, even if she does not always appear empathetic.
  • Violet needs interview subjects and wizarding celebrities for editorials. She is very picky about who she puts in the magazine. However, as writers we can make anything work!
Political Allies & Foes
  • Is your character a lawmaker? Does he or she like vampires? Hate them? Sit on the Wizengamot and routinely hear about law-abiding or law-breaking magical beings? Let's plot! If your character is in a position of power at the Ministry, Violet has possibly courted them.
  • A law enforcer? Department official? Your character might see Violet at the Ministry on a semi-regular basis, checking in with Regulation and Control of Mgical Creatures. Whether your MoM employees support vampires, find them interesting, don't trust them, hate them, I would love some kind of random hallway conversation or argument. Visits from officials are also totally welcome!
  • Is your character is peace-loving, progressive, or someone who supports vampire rights? Violet welcomes you to rally outside of the Ministry on her behalf. No, but seriously, I would love to thread.
  • Is your character a downtrodden fellow magical being, monitored by the Ministry? Does he or she find it stifling, restrictive, or prejudicial? Let's toss our creatures together.
People Who Just Don't Like and/or Fear Vampires
  • This is kind of self explanatory, but I would love to thread something tense with a person who doesn't like vamps, or someone Violet can scare the pants off of just by being herself (which isn't hard, really).
