[March 18] Possibly Fatal Disinterest [Open]

on January 06, 2014, 03:25:12 PM

About this time of the week Philo found himself in the library before dinner, usually to catch up on any studying needed for that week's homework, sometimes an extra curricular subject if he had the time. There were the little tables and desks niched out throughout the library but Philo had unfortunately been left to pick from a spot along a shelf meaning anyone who needed to use a book over his head had to lean over him.

In half boredom Philo scanned the titles of the shelf dead center in front of him. An entire subject that, to summarize from the titles, was about the hazardous effects of jinxes applied to things not normally jinxed.

Philo looked to his current textbook. An Extended Overview of Elementary Level Herbology Study. How exactly he had gotten it here from the Herbology section had been the aforementioned seat hunt.

Which felt odd, so many needing the study space in the library, although Philo attributed that to approaching final exams once winter was shrugged off from the castle grounds.

He was finding it hard to pay attention even though he needed the pick up in Herbology. The Library, once and still a place of wonder had lost some of its charm upon Philo realizing just how many books it contained and that was outside of the Restricted Section. All these books and how often were they used?

Come to think of it, why were new textbooks needed each year if the Library more than likely had a duplicate or equivalent version? Was it to minimize people checking out the books for long periods or reducing the need to go to the Library more often?

...come to think of it he was probably hanging out with Tim Pepper too much. Stooped in his chair Philo went to rummage in his satchel for a snack. Until he realized Arlaug had gotten into all his boxed candy from the last time Philo had to remove the swear frog from the bag.
