Full Character Name: Wilkensmith Twycross
Character Birthday & Age: January 23, 1909; 101
City & Country of Birth: Inverness, Scotland
Blood Purity: Halfblood
Alma Mater: Slytherin, Hogwarts School
Job/Position: Apparition Instructor, Department of Magical Transportation
Wand: 8.5 inches, willow, dragon heartstring from Ollivander the Elder
Physical Description: Wilkie, as he's been called since he was a lad, is very old indeed and seems to be fading through to the other side already. His skin is pale and papery, his hair is thin, white and wispy. He wears glasses down his long thin nose, and his pale blue eyes water and blink frequently under heavy hooded lids.
However, he seems to pay no attention to his age and may one day end up teaching Apparition like one professor Binns, even after passing over.
Personality Description: He's had a long life and has found great comfort in routine and habit. He's like to say that he's seen it all and done it all that there's little else new and so he repeats the best of them. Nearly everything about him seems measured, rote, familiar and repeated. Including his tried and true lesson plans.
History: He was born in 1909 in Inverness, the oldest of 10. (He's outlived all of his brothers and sisters and so remains the oldest.)
He was friends with Garrick Ollivander in school, and lived for a time in London selling Floo Powder from a cart.
Wilkie has no special experience or knack that would make Apparition the culmination of his life's work. He fell into to sometime in the 1960s having responded to a want ad. A Ministry job is a terribly good one and he had no reason to leave and no reason to be fired.
Describe your job duties and how you go about them: He teaches Apparition lessons all through the year, three weeks out of every month. The largest by far is to Hogwarts students in April. Otherwise, the classes cater to adults who've never gotten around to learning, the mandatory courses for foreigners seeking UK license, and those suffering a mandatory re-licensure after a mishap.
He teaches the class and then administers the test.
Elaborate on your expertise in your field: Seventeen-year-olds are capable of Apparating. It isn't really that difficult. The real trick of this position is patience, consistency, and safety. He is well attuned to all three.
He is one of the small team of instructors and has been teaching since the 1960s. He has good attendence and a low splinching rate.
Writing Sample: Sum up your character in one paragraph: He has perhaps Apparated so many times that he's begun to fade out of existence. A very old man, a wizard of rote and habit, and unwavering patience.
