Werewolf Teacher comes to Hogwarts!

on December 30, 2013, 03:01:24 PM

possibly against better judgment Shona– Red Rock alumnus, Animagus, and Registered werewolf –has come to Hogwarts to teach Care of Magical Creatures!

“No, hun. That’s interest.”

Bossy, brisk, loud, outspoken and enthusiastic– and in possession of some very wolfish mannerisms– some may find her mean, or annoying, or just plain frightening. (On a good day her brother Rick thinks of her at least 2 of the three.) She is, however, pretty easygoing and relaxed, despite the strict standards she expects of her students, and likes just about anyone who can make her laugh. Her reaction to overt anti-werewolf prejudice depends on a couple of things, particularly age (she's less likely to spite a kid) and relevance (such as being her boss, or a complete stranger); because of personal experience, Shona is nearly as unforgiving about bullying/harassment as she is about the mistreatment of animals and beings. She dislikes apologists, though—sees them almost just as harmful, if not more so.

For Shona, I'm looking for friends, mostly, and old business acquaintances– particularly other Magizoologists. She's done a lot of traveling, especially between ‘97 - ‘99, and later ‘09 - ‘10, arriving in England sometime between late fall/early winter. (Her past jobs have also taken her traveling to far parts of the globe, so her history's p flexible, really!) She is sister to Rick and CeeCee Donovan, and currently good friends with Skylar Carstairs and Rosie Pendlewick, fond of Phillip Kinsey and knows Bai Li Yang.

Less-than-friendly relationships are welcome too, of course! While she isn't half as sour as Rick, she isn't as nice as CeeCee either. When she's feeling particularly nasty, she tends to make callous, invasive observations—among other uncomfortable things. such as eyeing one's throat with non-sexy intensity :>

As for COMC—I am open to suggestions and related plot things! If you have any ideas you'd like to share, please post here or PM me! Even if it's just to express an interest in the class, so I know to add you to the roster.<3

lu guys!

I PRESENT TO YOU one perky, ditsy, forgetful blonde with a fondness for awesome people and a penchant for falling through vanishing cabinets at inopportune times, AS DISCUSSED.

Shonsie.

Also, if Deus was not signed up for COMC, he will be requesting to do so now ;)

Vladlena will probably be moderately appalled at the whole situation but a) she will get over it and b) she'll keep quiet until she does.

Tulojow would certainly be friendly towards Shona and, as a fellow American transplant, would welcome her to come by the healing hut for home cooking, potions or whatever else.  As one of the more senior members of staff, she'd also be happy to help Shona get settled and learn the ropes.

Also, a werewolf professor provides Sasha with one very profound quandary.  He really doesn't know how to react.  His inability to be disrespectful to professors is in staunch conflict with his fear of werewolves.  Is/will her werewolf status be common knowledge?  At least it sounds like it's easy to recognize?  If you're looking for potential conflict, some could be subtly brewed.

DLEE
  • hasfdq4afhksf2we9 I DIDN'T FORGET HER. yspls def all the things!

MAI
  • Aww, Tulo! Shona appreciates it v much. ;:')  It might not readily seem like it, with how energetic she's being since she arrived, but being in a totally new environment for good has given her a good bit of anxiety. Normally she doesn't really care about her curse being a sticking point for some people, but Hogwarts and McGonagall are obvs exceptions and Shona knows she can't screw up.

As for Sasha: oooo, good question! As a matter of fact, it kind of is, kind of isn't—Shona doesn't try to hide it, but she doesn't advertise it either. In the overview she doesn't outright say, but it is p unmistakable. So unless someone says anything, we have an erumpent in the room right there. :>

I'd love to see how this turns out!

Think only these three out of my lot have a chance of knowing Shona in passing.

Ignan will meet her as a fellow colleague. He's not had much of a chance to draw an impression of her (clicking pen aside, she's on borrowed new-colleague-will-have-to-tolerate time there) but if you would like to find out, then we'll either cross in the staff meeting or at some point in the future regarding professor matters.

Does she have to go to the Ministry safehouses on a full moon, btw?

Johann can easily be assumed a friend or even a business acquaintance from the 90s as he moved from place to place picking up jobs from perfume and potioneers to trading in magical creature parts. I'm always very happy to assume he's met people in the past - as we did with Bai.

Ambrose will be in her fourth year class, and magical creatures is his favourite, and about the only one he does half-decently in. Undoubtedly Shona's colleagues have forewarned her about letting him cast spells.

Obviously, you already have Sky  here which don't let her hear you they're friends. She will glare. And then... Well, we'll have to see how she and Ezia  get along, 'cause apart from not immediately hating her I honestly can't say at the moment.

Sadly, Mara and her will not be hitting it off anytime soon, mostly because she's Mara but also because werewolf and Amara do not a happy team make. Which, honestly, should be quite a relief. But Rosie will absolutely, positively adore her and the creatures of course, and she'll be insisting on getting one on one time with some of the class subjects most probably.

And Phillip may not be taking CoMC, but she's Shona and a Donovan and that's enough reason for him to be coming a-bugging her a few times a week. I mean he needs his Donovan dose and now he has one in close proximity. Yippee ki yay!

I dunno about Aria, it could very well be hit or miss here. We'll just have to see in a thread maybe? Sander might like her a bit more than he does CeeCee, which.. that's not saying much >.>" And E will certainly extend an invitation very soon.

LOL Hogwarts is certainly progressing from the Analiza-Years.

I need to start getting back into things, but until I do, you are welcome to have her and Kia/Kale have some sort of history. Their father was a Magizoologist, so she might have worked under him for a bit or something. Kia is a werewolf hunter, so there might be tension in that regard or Shona could know that Kia doesn't discriminate against all werewolves. Up to you.

I have Jack too. Not sure what I am doing with him atm, but they could meet at the MoM or something.

Anyways, just thoughts and musings ^^ No rush.

obvs. Minerva has no issues with a werewolf professor, and should you ever need her for any reason, she's always at your disposal.

I also have Henry, my part-goblin professor of Arithmancy - I'm sure the two would at least get along, and he's also open for anything. Dual classes, friendly chatting on the grounds/in the castle, or whatever!

If you're looking for friendships outside the castle, you're welcome to any of my bbs, but I think she and Dora would probably have the most in common. They're both werewolves, at least.

omg guyssss <3

KIT
  • I look forward to all the things, Kit! In fact, I'm doing what I can to start another thread, for the staff. And I would like Johann and Shona to be friends v much. She will find Ambrose amusing (if not adorable), I am sure. ;)

And, yes, she does! She knows there are some decent safe houses out there, but with her current job she'd rather not take any chances. ("I use the one at the Ministry" sounds v... sufficient, to her ears!)

AMARA
  • HAHAHA– I mean, friends? Psssh. (and then at the end of the day she and Shona have drinks or sth and Shona can snicker at her creative, unflattering descriptions of her colleagues, y/n/y/y/y?)

Heeeee, Phillip. He better visit her. (And Rosie! She can come after hours and help with some of the animals, ys?)

I look forward to all Ezia, Sander and Aria interactions! And that invite!

ALISHA
  • HAHAHA it hassssss. Well, I'm up for everything, if you'd like– her working for their dad for a while, Shona knowing Kia doesn't discriminate against all werewolves, but there's still a bit of tension anyway?

I will hit you up about Jack when I have an idea! :>

MICHAEL
  • Friendships with Henry and Dora sound lovely. :')  I don't think Shona's ever been to Hogsmeade, but she could have met Dora somewhere else? (Diagon, maybe?) She'll be dropping by the cafe soon, though!

Minervaaa <3 Shona is a bit wary of her– but mostly awed, really! She's heard a lot of great things about her, and in person she has a lot of presence. Maybe a bit further down the line we can do a checkup thread? Whatever suits you, bb <333

Inside Hogwarts I have my four seniors.

Jay is a seventh year Beauxbatons that is only at Hogwarts till the end of the year but has been enjoying CoMC so far. I think he'll be very interested in the fact that Hogwarts seems to change their professor's every month or so :P He has nothing for or against werewolves, far as he's concerned people are just people no matter the curse.

Peyton is a sixth year Ravenclaw who also enjoys CoMC, though he's not the best student. He does a little better in hands on subjects like this one but he skates around on a general A, something that attributed to him losing his Quidditch Captain title. He's a little apprehensive of werewolves but I think he would be more concerned with getting a bad grade than his Professor taking a bite out of him.

Cadance is a sixth year Slytherin and she'll likely give Shona the most trouble. She's been in CoMC since her third year and absolutely adores animals. She has a pet aethanon back home. However she was raised as the proper pureblood daughter, being groomed to be the perfect wife and will stick her nose up at Shona not only for being a werewolf but also for being American. She won't be outwardly rude about it but more pleasantly condescending, think Malfoy and Hagrid without the whining.

Xavier is a sixth year Slytherin and will be on the fence about her. Back in the summer, he and his best friend were attacked by a werewolf and he was forced to kill the creature to protect them. He's been struggling with it ever since, especially since during a field trip with Hagrid he discovered he could see Thestrals which rocked his previous belief that werewolves were mindless beasts (not people) while in wolf form. This will likely lead him to be withdrawn during classes until he works out how he feels about her, and werewolves in general.

Outside of Hogwarts she may or may not have run into Ghastly, who is a dragon handler and world traveler and Lexus who is a registered werewolf but lives in Knockturn and is not exactly clean or criminal activities.

CoMC is one of Gigi's favorite (and best) classes. I imagine she'll be more curious than she'd admit to about having a werewolf as a teacher.

Lua would most likely love her, whether or not the professor likes her back. I  am totally up for any sort of student/teacher relationship there, though. She obviously thinks COMC is awesome and she loves her siblings.

Blythe would probably also admire her :)

If she pops up at Puddifoot's, Emmylou could serve her sometime!

Figaro has a pretty crap track record with werewolves, but Creatures is his favorite class.  He'd be likely to try and bother her for a Howler story.  And probably the first to make a joke about HER being a magical creature to study.

Branwen Strangely is the sister of famed werewolf activist Maya Irene-Strangely.  Bran's very much a supporter and will also be keen to bother her.  In a good way.  They're also both outdoors, naturals teachers.  Very keen to make friends!

AMBER
  • Yes to everything! Especially Cadance! That sounds like fun. I have an idea how Shona would treat the less-than-pleasant kids+teens, but until then... we shall see!

SOCKS
  • Then Shona looks forward to seeing her there! :>

TOR
  • omg shush bb she thinks Lua is just the cutest thing. Lua will always be welcome to see her between classes and talk about all the things! She'll be very interested in Lumos, too.

Blyyyyyythe <3  pls feel free to admire! ;)

SARAH
  • BRING IT, SELLAPHIX  jk jk  I think despite herself, Shona may like him; he probably reminds her of herself (sans the bug-eating and crown of twigs?), and he's certainly got a way about him that makes a person want to ruffle his hair or box him 'round the ears!

As for that Howler story... she'll stare at him. With her teeth. c:

And y/y/y/y to Prof. Strangely! I think Shona finds her a bit weird, but will definitely appreciate the friendliness! Shona could even be persuaded to obtain certain plant samples for her from the Forbidden Forest, too, eventually~

Weee, werewolf teaching at Hogwarts! This'll be fun.

I have no doubt that Teddy will come sniffing around the minute he hears she's a werewolf. He's too young for CoMC, of course, but he might use asking for advice on his mysterious little furry friend as an excuse to come talk to her. Either way it's the werewolf bit he's most interested in. He likes werewolves.

On the coworker front, there's also Felinus should she ever require the assistance of someone especially beastly. That's pretty much the whole of it on my front. But I definitely think Ted should come to call. :3
